16 year old Grandson has an interview at McDs. Any tips that might help him net a job.

Just that basically
He’s a lovely lad. Quiet and thoughtful.
Wondered what he could expect at interview.
We live in a town where part time jobs are scarce so he really needs to shine.
I’m a bit worried that he won’t.
Thank you

Brilliant! So pleased for you both.

I loved working for McDonald’s when I was a teen. Such a laugh.

Aw i was wondering about this! Tell him we said well done! It's the start of a great thing for him 🎉

Well Done to your grandson! I hope he enjoys his new job.

And I am amazed that there is no McDonald'd in Durham!

PurpleCrazyHorse · 09/10/2019 22:01

Very late to the McDs party but congratulations to your grandson.

I had a great job in WHSmiths from 15-19 when I went to uni and it helped me secure a job after uni too, because I had experience dealing with customers, problem solving, being trustworthy (operating the till), using my initiative (not standing around chatting but tidying up, getting more stock). It's never 'just' a Saturday job.

Fingers crossed for his dad now.

Happy for your family Dowser, well done him :)

myrtleWilson · 11/10/2019 16:36

Congratulations @Dowser grandson! And there is a McD's in Durham but not in the city centre - there is one at the Arnison retail centre..... so transfer is possible!

Thank you all you loveypeople.
He had his induction on Wednesday and his first shift on Saturday.
They had him on the drinks machine and even had him cooking 😱😱😱

I did teach him to make a lasagne when he was 7 lol but I can’t believe they had him cooking on his first shift

He said he enjoyed it 👍

So his first money will hit his account ( yes his parents had to open a bank account for him) this week...kerching!
And they want him on Wednesday evening and Thursday..too
Wow
So he had a nana warning about keeping up with college work..the end game is chemical engineering..but he’s a sensible lad..phew!

My big worry is him getting home safely. I think he needs to set aside some money for a taxi on nights his dad can’t get him

As for his dad..he got the new job as well 😁

So all my hopes and prayers were answered.

Hopefully this lovely little families luck is being turned around.
