I’m placing my faith in MN to answer a question that has been bugging me since 1984

...and it’s a very important one, so brace yourselves.

What the fuck is Tina Turner holding on the cover of the Private Dancer album?

This has been annoying me on and off since 1984 when my big sister brought the damn thing home.

I’ve peered at it, I’ve googled it, I’ve asked DH (who can’t make it out and for some reason doesn’t seem to think it’s important, the weirdo) and I’m no nearer the truth.

I’ve considered the possibility it’s a bit of Easter egg, as it seems to be the right shape and colour, but it wasn’t released at Easter and there’s no reference to Easter on the album.

I wondered if it was a cat treat, given the presence of a cat - but la Turner appears to be eating something and, although she possesses a certain feline beauty, I don’t think that’s down to the consumption of Dreamies.

Can anyone help? Does anyone definitively know?

Thirty five years, this has been bugging me. Do a sister a favour, please...

Wow! But he uses a winking emoji - so now we can spend another hundred posts wondering what that means...

Pinkarsedfly · 01/10/2019 16:53

I can’t believe he took the time to reply. What a nice man!

Great! But... come on, Peter.

Was it a mackerel, a sprat, was it a bit of beef jerky, did Tina eat any of it? Why didn't the cat fancy it after all? Enquiring minds need to know!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/10/2019 17:16

Catnip? A spider? A furball? Small top hat? His cats idea of a treat may not be another cats idea of a treat.

I've been following this thread. It's awesome that he replied. Grin

GaudyNight · 01/10/2019 17:19

Could it be a deeply symbolic fish?

Grin

For some reason this thread has made me genuinely laugh more than any of the one that people claim made them spit tea on their keyboards and which must immediately be inducted into Classics.

Could we move onto other mysterious album covers when we're done pondering Tina's cat treat?

AGnu · 01/10/2019 17:19

I love this thread! You'd have thought she could've palmed it while the photo was being taken. The cat would've still been able to smell it so would've stuck around but we wouldn't all be eternally left with the thought of Tina Turner trying to do sexy with fishy fingers.

We also wouldn't have had this thread so today I'm grateful for Tina Turner's fishy fingers. There's a sentence I didn't expect to say today, or ever! Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/10/2019 17:21

It does sound like a euphemism though...

ThinkWittyThoughts · 01/10/2019 17:35

Nominated for classics.

This thread is freaking awesome.

I wish I could remember my password so I could name change to TinaTurner’sFishyFingers Sad

Ah so she had to hold the treat for the cat to pose for the photo!!

I am owned by a cat. It's practically impossible to get them to do anything without a bunch of catnip and some treats.

HairyDogsOfThigh · 01/10/2019 18:23

Still don't understand why her fishnets weren't shredded if she's waving that treat around. My cats wouldn't be waiting patiently, they'd have mugged her for it.

rosamacrose · 01/10/2019 18:39

Looks like a vole.
This would be a treat chosen by the cat.
Nice reply, nice that he took time!

HoldingBackTheCat · 01/10/2019 19:05

I love that he responded!

StealthPolarBear · 01/10/2019 19:15

He clearly can't remember and is making it up

666onmyhead · 01/10/2019 19:46

ChicCroissant · 01/10/2019 20:05

This is the kind of thing that MN is for Grin, result!

Pinkarsedfly · 01/10/2019 20:16

His reply has really made me smile after a fairly shitty day Grin

Love it 😂 but is there an innuendo in there somewhere or am I thinking into this far far too deeply?

StroppyWoman · 01/10/2019 20:35

bless him, how kind to respond!

MsPepperPotts · 01/10/2019 20:55

Brilliant!
Love this thread and so glad you got a reply and a wink from the lovely man. Grin

AnOojamaflip · 01/10/2019 21:11

It’s nice that he replied, but we’re still non the wiser of what the actual cat treat was...
