Does anyone have a child that doesn’t have a games console?

We have a very old Wii, but no PS or anything. DS is nearly 18, and DD 15.

whywhywhy6 · 28/09/2019 21:25

We don’t. Kids are 10 and nearly 9.

GetUpAgain · 28/09/2019 21:25

I used to... when the kids were young though!

inwood · 28/09/2019 21:25

Yep. Mine are 8, I'm. It against it but they're not interested. You tube on the other hand...

inwood · 28/09/2019 21:25

I'm not against it!

WickedLemon · 28/09/2019 21:27

DS aged 15, has never been interested in a games console.

MarshaBradyo · 28/09/2019 21:27

I’ve never bought one so we don’t have any here. Eldest has a PC though.

HighNetGirth · 28/09/2019 21:27

Yes. Mine are in lat years of primary and will not be getting one any time soon. They share a Kindle Fire tablet that has some nice kiddy games in it and seem happy with that for the moment.

HighNetGirth · 28/09/2019 21:27

Last, not ‘lat’!

Nandocushion · 28/09/2019 21:28

We have a largely unused WiiU. Kids not interested in a console as PC games and VR more popular.

Ghostpost · 28/09/2019 21:29

We don’t have one. Eldest is 12. Don’t plan on getting one anytime soon either.

Trewser · 28/09/2019 21:30

My dcs are totally uninterested in gaming. They watch Netflix and scroll through social media on their phones. We used to have a wii but it's in the attic now. Dcs 13, 16, 18

Mitebiteatnite · 28/09/2019 21:30

DD is 12 and doesn't. She's no interest in having one either. She's playing out all day on weekends and weekdays after school, and doing homework or watching police interceptors TV in the evenings. DS is 10 and used to be on it too much quite a lot but he's gradually becoming bored of it. He tends to play with his lego or go out with his sister now.

KittyMcKitty · 28/09/2019 21:30

Mine are 14 and 16. We have an Xbox no idea when it was last switched on.

They do still spend huge amounts of time watching crap on YouTube / Instagram et al.

concernedforthefuture · 28/09/2019 21:31

Mine don't. Well, DH has an original Wii which the kids do get to play on occasionally when we can be arsed to set it all up but nothing that's theirs or up-to-date. No iPads / phones/ tablets either.

Leflic · 28/09/2019 21:31

PC games only from yr 6 onwards.. Consoles aren’t any good apparently ( a,though we had a Wii back in the day which was brilliant fun).

CMOTDibbler · 28/09/2019 21:31

DS is 13 and has a laptop, but we don't have any form of console

CherryPavlova · 28/09/2019 21:33

As teenagers we had a PlayStation they shared but didn’t use much. Its probably still here somewhere.
Now as twenty somethings the girls don’t ever use games consoles but our son uses one at work very occasionally.

Normandy144 · 28/09/2019 21:38

I have 2 DDs aged 3 and 6 and we don't. They're not interested. They will play the odd game on the ipad, and the eldest has heard of something called an XBox but she's not asking for one.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 28/09/2019 21:42

my dc are 12 and 8. We have a wiiU, but TBH neither of them was ever taken with it - I can't remember the last time it was used. I've offered to upgrade to an xbox but no takers. the older one sometimes games on her phone.

PillBox101 · 28/09/2019 21:58

We have a very old Wii console that has only been used a grand total of twice. DD's are 10 and 11. We do have to watch their screen time though as if they were left to it would be on their screens as much as they could. The rule we have is that their chores, homework and reading have to be done and they can have a couple of hours with screens, a bit longer at weekends and on school holidays. Youtube is heavily censored and they can only watch certain youtube channels.

Oly4 · 28/09/2019 22:00

Now despite the best efforts of my 8yo. I want him to get to
At least 10/11

WonkyCatissad218 · 28/09/2019 22:06

DD is 12 and hasn't got one, she's not interested in one either.

OpiesOldLady · 28/09/2019 22:12

Yep, DS is 15. He has a laptop to do homework on but mainly he's on his guitar or out on his bike.

OhioOhioOhio · 28/09/2019 22:14

This is such an encouraging thread.
