Today I tried on a 'midi skirt' and came to the terrible realisation that I have the figure of a nun

Thank you for this thread op.

I'm now going to bag and take to the charity shop that pleated midi skirt that I would 'definitely' wear one day.

You've all confirmed what I already knew , at 5 feet 3 with a pear shaped figure , that skirt looks bloody terrible on me.

I'm quite short and this length looks hideous on me, roughly doubles my size visually. Same with wide leg trousers, I don't look floaty and hippyish, just dumpy.

I’m fat and 5’8”, it’s either skirts/dresses that fall to just above the knee or trousers for my wardrobe. Midi makes me look even more horrific.

My worst look ever was wearing a knee length maternity dress for meeting friends for lunch . It was towards the end of my pregnancy , I was huge and nothing else fit me. In addition to this it was winter so I was wearing black opaque tights. I'm quite short so it was midi length, I was wearing flat shoes due to swollen feet/ ankles.
Beat that.

Midi skirts look good on tall, willowy women and awful on most of the rest of us. They look slightly less bad if you wear them with winter boots, but it's still not great.

I like midi skirts and dresses, prefer them to maxi/full length.

I have a few high waisted midi skirts that are very flattering.
