How much does it cost to rent a council house, say a 3 bed ?

We are due to move into a three bed with a HA not council and that's almost £600 per month just for rent. Most local private 3 beds are £700-£800.

It depends on area. Having a look at the local housing allowance for your area should give you a good idea.

Here it's 800 a month for a council 3 bed flat. (London zone 1)

It's pretty much the same as private market rent now. Here a two bed council flat is £100pw. When we first moved in in 2004 it was £260 a month. The cost has risen disproportionately and services (upkeep, modernization etc) is now virtually non existent due to cuts.

It would cost £17k to buy it though because we've been here for so long. Personally we wouldn't (lefty principles, don't agree with RTB). But for others it's something worth bearing in mind.

Here it is cheaper than market rent. My mum has a three bed Flat and pays about £600

I pay £84/ week for a two bed in the Northwest , a three bed is probably about £ 95-100 not much different to private rent round here tbh .

In Norfolk it's 675 a month

Where I am I pay £85/week for a 1 bed so I’d expect a 3 bed to be over £150/week

My 50s HA 3 bed house in herts is 520 a month.

My daughters, different, new build HA flat is 650 a month, 5 minutes down the road.

Both in herts.

My son pays about £420 for his 4 bed semi
New build
Large rooms
Solar panels
Fab house

That’s ne coastal town

A private house of this calibre would be £800
Three bed would be £600
No garage though, car parking at front, decent sized garden

We have a 2 bedroom and pay £77 a week (north east).

3 bedroom £80is a week.

There’s loads of houses for sale in my home town for u dear £25k
Houses, not just flats.
