According to the National Housing Federation, rents for council and housing associations are set by the following criteria:
Target weekly rent is equal to
- 70% of the average rent of a 2 bedroom property
Multiplied by the relative county earnings
Multiplied by bedroom rate
Plus
30% of the average rent
Multiplied by the average property value.
As you can see, it can change radically from one postcode area to the next.
I would also look at the waiting lists for the council area as demand can be high.
