Songs that irritate the crap out of you?

For me it's Taylor Swift's 'Gorgeous'...no reason other than it annoys me with the stupid "ting" triangle thing. Dd1's scrolling Youtube atm & has put it on just to wind me up Hmm

What songs irritate you...just because they do?

Sorry, heard about seven seconds of another one today.

"We Built This City" by Jefferson Starship.

How does a band go from the amazing "Miracles" in 1975 to this drivel 10 years later?

kittlesticks · 18/09/2019 02:52

Pretty much all Ed Sheeran stuff just makes me think that he's having a complete laugh at our expense. It's all so predictable.

TheSky · 18/09/2019 03:10

I definitely agree with all the mentions of come on Eileen!!

I can't believe no one has said Build me up Buttercup?! Fucking awful!!!!

BillStickersIsInnocent · 18/09/2019 03:40

Bittersweet symphony by the Verve - just dull and repetitive.

Two Princes by the Spindoctors - makes me feel physically ill. Prefab Sprout have the same effect sometimes too.

Jesaminecollins · 18/09/2019 04:02

I liked this at first but now after hearing it a zillion times it irrates the hell out of me

WildRosie · 18/09/2019 08:12

You are right, TheSky. Build Me Up Buttercap is dreadful, cliched garbage. Apparently, the writers hadn't intended it for The Foundations but rather for The Paper Dolls but there was a mix-up with studio dates. The rest is terrible history.

Baby, Now That I've Found You is a grand record.

LadyGooGaa · 18/09/2019 08:15

Anything by Celine Dion. I once wrote a text to Chris Evans (when he was on R2) asking him to turn off one of her songs as it made me seasick. He read it out and he turned it off! #claimtofame

FatherFintanFay · 18/09/2019 08:17

On that sort of note, I can't stand Oh What a Night (December '63). All about having a ONS with some woman whose name he didn't even bother to find out, and "as I recall it ended much too soon", so the poor anonymous woman probably didn't get much out of it, despite being "what a lady".

Lunaballoon · 18/09/2019 08:18

Anything by Adele. Whenever I’m in Morrisons they seem to play one of her dreary shrieky songs which are made even worse by a terrible sound system.

nononever · 18/09/2019 08:21

Brimful of Asha by Cornershop, I have to turn off the radio if that comes on, it irritates me no end. I loathe it. The remix is just as bad.

milliefiori · 18/09/2019 08:23

I love so many of the songs on here! Grin

KettleOn919 · 18/09/2019 08:28

It's Raining Men!

Oh God... it isn't, is it?

Davros · 18/09/2019 10:22

kettle proper made me larf Grin

Stravapalava · 18/09/2019 14:58

That Freaky Friday song - "I woke up in Chris Brown's body..." Soo catchy and annoying!

Plus this

Jesaminecollins · 18/09/2019 16:04

@Lunaballoon

I can't stand Adele either, I prefer Beyonce, Sia or Rihanna.

SudowoodoVoodoo · 18/09/2019 17:56

Any of the inarticulate, breathy, toothachy wailing that seems to litter the charts and radio at the moment. The main culprits include Sia, Ariana Grande, Pauloma Faith, Rita Ora and Sam Smith. Plenty of other offenders are avaliable! Some of them do actually have decent voices when they sing acusticly but just have a terrible commercial style and overproduction. Mariah Carey never knew when to call enough on the vocal gymnastics. There was an awful song that was everywhere featuring much warbling over about 14 parts. I remember being in halls, sandwiched between two Mariah fans simultaneously playing the song at slightly different parts. Guantanamo Bay missed a trick there Grin

Whine whine whine by UB40. Seriously overplayed on local radio around their home town.

YY to Madonna's American Pie. It wasn't necessary to the song or to Madonna.

The worst bit is there is so much awful current "pop" music, that nostalgia now makes me appreciate the cheesy end of 90s/ millennium pop/ dance music that I considered disdainful at the time Grin

Jesaminecollins · 18/09/2019 20:07

Shaggy irritates me - he can't sing and his vids are horrible...

nononever · 18/09/2019 21:35

I never liked Shaggy but a few years back he was part of the entertainment lineup at a Singapore Grand Prix we were at and he actually was brilliant, really got the crowd going.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 18/09/2019 22:09

Dreams by Gabrielle

It’s makes me feel quite violent I hate the song with a passion

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 18/09/2019 22:44

Why Does It Always Rain On Me? by whoever with the whiny voice.

It doesn’t always rain on you, you egocentric paranoiac.

It’s not because you lied when you were seventeen. The weather has no interest in these things, so get over yourself.

Oh no - now I have ‘Everywhere you go you’ll always take the weather with you’ in my head. That’s a different song, right? But also v v annoying, boring and whingy.

Hippopotas · 18/09/2019 22:45

Love shack. I hate that song

Stravapalava · 20/09/2019 09:30

I give you...

WildRosie · 22/09/2019 08:54

Fallen Angel by Frankie Valli. I like most FV and Four Seasons but Fallen Angel has such a self-indulgent lyric, I just can't listen to it.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 22/09/2019 10:06

"
I keep thinking of others but there's one out at the moment called Castles by Freya somebody or other, where her pronunciation is so mangled that she manages to turn "I'm gonna build castles from the rubble of your love" into "Ahm gon' beel CARRSUWWS f' th' rubber o' yer lurrr". The song is fairly inoffensive in itself but the radio has to go off because her voice is so unpleasant to listen to."

THIS. Her singing like she has her mouth gives me the rage.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 22/09/2019 10:07

Mouth full. Ffs.
