The amount of things I have to get done today is making me want to cry.

Had a hard week with starting back at college as an adult student on an access course and trying to manage keeping our home clean & in order. I'm diagnosed with depression & ocd so that's extra helpful.

Today's list:
Get out of bed (hasn't happened yet)
Eat something & take meds
Brush teeth (sounds ridiculous but it's hard to do when you're in a depressive state)
Put wash on
Hoover
Clean surfaces & kitchen
Put laundry away
Shower
Muster up some energy to study and go out tonight with my partner.
Oh and go food shopping.

I just want to crawl into a hole and die right now.

And I need to write my appeal for my PIP claim to go to tribunal, due to be posted tomorrow. Christ.

jomaIone · 13/09/2019 12:39

I would start by not writing threads online, you could've put your washing away by now!

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:40

@jomaIone valid point, though due to the mental health aspect of my post I was looking for some support?

Totally hear you OP xxxxx
How about online food shopping?

Angrybird123 · 13/09/2019 12:42

How about you cross off all the laundry / hoovering type stuff and do the minimum. Get out of bed, eat, do PIP paperwork in pj's. Then you might feel on a roll to shower / teeth / dress and leave the house.

MutedUser · 13/09/2019 12:42

Nothing else for it but getting off your phone and getting out of bed.

wildthingsinthenight · 13/09/2019 12:43

Leave putting laundry away. Get someone else to do it later

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:43

@wildthingsinthenight That's a great idea but I don't have enough in my online account to do a food shop, cash only!

Hackahacka · 13/09/2019 12:44

I empathize. I've felt similar lately.
I find really forcing myself to get fully dressed is the first hurdle. Properly, ready to go outside the house dressed (and teeth brushed). Go and do that now. Go and put that shower on.
Then put some music on to get through the next couple of jobs on your list. It's horrible, I know. And also give yourself a massive pat on the back for what you've already achieved this week. Smile

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:44

@Angrybird123 that's what I'm thinking atm, I know a clean & tidy place will make me feel so much better. Thank you.

EvilHerbivore · 13/09/2019 12:44

Start with a brew? Would some music help? Sometimes when I'm feeling crap I promise myself I'll do as much as I can in 3 songs and then have another sit down - sometimes by then I feel I'm on a roll and carry on but other times I do sit down for an hour and build up to doing it again
Or put something on tv that has ad breaks and make myself do something every ad break
Good luck, it's hard getting started when you're feeling crappy

wildthingsinthenight · 13/09/2019 12:45

Good plan Angrybird123

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:45

@wildthingsinthenight I have to do it, it's part of my ocd unfortunately.

PinkLacy · 13/09/2019 12:45

Don’t take your phone to bed with you at night.

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:46

@Hackahacka Thank you, I'm sorry you've felt the same lately! I feel stupid because everyone else manages to function fine everyday and I struggle so much to just get out of bed some days.

Deffo going to put music on in a bit, partners going out to walk the dog in a minute so I'll have the place to myself for an hour to get my shit together hopefully!

Flowers Firstly have something to eat and take meds,
then shower as that will make you feel abit more human. Have you got some nice soap or shower gel you can use?
Then write all these jobs on bits of paper and put them in a 'hat'
Pull a job out one at a time and so the job, when done chuck the paper away.
Have a cuppa and pick job number 2
etc etc....
I have a dear friend who suffers with depression and this works for her when She's having a challenging day.

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:47

@PinkLacy That's a good one, I definitely need to use my phone less.

Preggosaurus9 · 13/09/2019 12:47

Put uplifiting music on e.g. youtube or radio and let that reset the vibe of the house.

Also stop procrastinating on the pip claim, do it first and get it out of the way, "eat your frogs first", then do the less emotionally charged stuff

Yerbumsootthewindae · 13/09/2019 12:47

My advice would be to get a couple of "penalty kicks" out of the way - whatever tasks are easiest for you so you can tick them off the list, then get a bigger task done. Sounds like you absolutely must get your appeal done so maybe get that out of the way? Then music/podcast on and household stuff out of the way. The sun is shining here, hope its shining where you are, that always makes me move myself. Good luck Flowers

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:48

@NemoIsLost Thank you! That's such a creative idea, I actually really like the sound of it. Smile

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:49

@EvilHerbivore Thank you, music & coffee are definitely my first steps I think.

OP posts:
threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:51

@Yerbumsootthewindae Appeal definitely needs to get done, I can't work because of my MH so desperately need that money to live off of, my boyfriend and parents have been paying for me since they stopped my claim back in April and I feel awful for it.

I'm 20 so young still but it's hard work living with a partner and having t hold down a house at my age on top of MH issues!

OP posts:
NemoIsLost · 13/09/2019 12:54

I'm glad you like that idea op Good luck with your day, let us know how it goes

threeamclub · 13/09/2019 12:55

@NemoIsLost Thank you, about to get up and brush my teeth and make a coffee, let's see how the day goes!

DNAwrangler · 13/09/2019 12:55

Days where you wake up feeling like this are hard.

I would pick 3 things from your list. One that is relatively easily achievable (eg put wash on), two that are most urgent (eg PIP and shopping).

If you do those, maybe you'll be inspired to do more. If not, at least you got some done!
