And I am totally encouraging it, not only because it's educational, but because I think I may be developing a crush on Matthew Baynton, especially in the Dick Turpin song 😍Blush

Oh dear, looks like I'm alone with this particular crush BlushBlush

TheBigBallOfOil · 07/09/2019 12:27

I can’t share the crush but I do find it very funny. Especially Stupid Deaths.

Metempsychosis · 07/09/2019 12:29

No, it’s because your post is up there with a post saying “My DC have a bath every evening and I find the water in it to be quite wet. Am I alone in this?”
You are merely a little late to the party - those of us with older DC have thrashed out the great debate of our time over many threads: Which of the HH Men (original cast) would you do and in what order?

CatherineVelindre · 07/09/2019 12:32

Been there, done that, got all the DVDs.
My DC2 is now old enough to announce that she fancies Mat Baynton.

(I prefer Ben myself.)

confusedofengland · 07/09/2019 12:48

I stand corrected. Apologies for the boring thread title.

I love the programme as a whole, it's great fun & education but Baynton as Dick Turpin is really quite mesmeric!

Ds1 is 10 & has always loved the books hut the smaller two adore the programmes (DS2 is autistic & is actually a bit obsessive about it)

OP posts:
Metheven · 07/09/2019 14:23

Simply the best kids programme ever (apart from Mary, Mungo and Midge). The songs are fantastic. Your DCs might enjoy Yonderland or Ghosts which are both written by and starring the six main actors.

bambamhammond · 07/09/2019 14:42

Definitely not alone in the Baynton crush. HH is always our go-to on iPlayer, makes me feel better about handing over the tablet...

RabidRabbles · 07/09/2019 14:45

DD is watching the Dick Turpin song on Netflix as I type.

I'm watching with her. Purely for educational reasons of course... Wink

Angrybird123 · 07/09/2019 15:06

Yep. Totally with you on all counts. It's what I let them watch if we've said no TV.. Oh but I want HH.. Oh OK then! As a history teacher also i can 100% recommend it. 👌

mogtheexcellent · 07/09/2019 15:07

Matthew baynton is in the wrong mans also on bbc iplayer at the moment. Ghosts is brilliant and your 10 year old would like it too. It should have been on in the teatime Saturday slot.

I sometimes watch HH on my own working from home - but i work in heritage sector Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/09/2019 15:09

As long as you keep your mitts off Ben Willbond Grin. Actually, I’d have all of them tbh, including Martha.

lazylinguist · 07/09/2019 15:15

I know this isn't AIBU... but YANBU. Grin

Evilmorty · 07/09/2019 15:18

Not Baynton, because I can’t shake him as the weird friend in Gavin and Stacey. Ben Willbond all day long though!

SoftBlocks · 07/09/2019 15:20

The Pachacuti Song ( also featuring Matthew Baynton ) very popular in this house, also Stupid Deaths.

lazylinguist · 07/09/2019 15:48

I love Pachacuti - he looks like such a dork in it! And the tune is so catchy!

confusedofengland · 07/09/2019 17:11

You now have me googling Pachacuti. Just checking it's suitable for the DC before I let them watch it...

OP posts:
lazylinguist · 07/09/2019 17:24

It definitely is. Unless you object to them singing about making flutes out of dead enemies' arms... Which is a bit objectionable I suppose. Grin

longestlurkerever · 07/09/2019 17:28

Lol Matthew Baynton lives near me. He's a regular at my kids' playgroup.

frogsbreath · 07/09/2019 17:31

I absolutely love horrible histories. We saw the play terrible Tudor's a few months ago and although I told ds (7) it's not the same cast he was still disappointed but did enjoy it anyway.

DH doesn't like it because "there's so much poo" Grin

NeverGotMyPuppy · 07/09/2019 19:09

I would do very very rude things to Ben Willbond. My son is too young for HH but I'm a secondary school history teacher... we watch the RAF song a LOT!

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 07/09/2019 19:13

I love Charles Dickens as Morrissey. Absolutely wasted on the children...

My four dc used to enjoy getting out the kitchen stools to sing Four Georges. And I frequently find myself humming Literally.

AmIChangingagain · 07/09/2019 19:37

Very late to the party OP Grin

As long as you keep your hands off Larry and Ben, you can keep Mat

All 6 are so brilliant together in everything they do and I love all of them

But if I absolutely HAD to make a choice, it would have to be Larry Rickard. All day

With a bit of Ben Willbond while Larry was resting I Blush

Janedoughnut · 07/09/2019 21:15

Lol Matthew Baynton lives near me. He's a regular at my kids' playgroup

Longestlurkerever - isn't he a bit old for playgroups!

DramaAlpaca · 07/09/2019 21:18

My DSs are too old for HH now, but I used to enjoy watching it with them. I wonder why? Wink Better late to the party than never, OP Grin

mrwalkensir · 07/09/2019 21:23

Um - you have caught "Ghosts" which is written by and starring the HH team? Second series on its way.....
