And I am totally encouraging it, not only because it's educational, but because I think I may be developing a crush on Matthew Baynton, especially in the Dick Turpin song 😍Blush

We did see Ghosts actually, but I didn't realise it was him. Horrible histories watching has been a very recent development (over this summer holidays)!

I'm on my phone so can't put the link in, but there was a thread in Chat a couple of months ago about fave HH songs.

If you find that, you'll get lots of ideas about videos to watch. The WW2 pilots is my current no 1 Grin

Swearwolf · 07/09/2019 22:00

Oh no, that Dick Turpin song, I completely get you!

PhannyMcNee · 07/09/2019 22:02

DD1 chose to get the DVD box set with her birthday money a couple of years ago. It was her 16th birthday 😂. I think you can never be too old for HH!

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/09/2019 22:12

Horrible Histories has long been a favourite here at Chateau Schulenberg. The Dick Turpin song is, indeed, rather wonderful.

I have been known to show the Charles Dickens song clip to children in my work setting. Their contextual knowledge of Mr Dickens is greatly enriched while I have a happy 3.5 mins watching Mr Baynton.

noodlenosefraggle · 07/09/2019 22:17

Have you seen the new Horrible Histories film? My DS's new teacher was very impressed with his knowledge of Roman times. Im not surehe realised he was basically regurgitating some stuff from the film and telly Grin

YaySeptember · 07/09/2019 22:22

I love horrible histories - I use it as often as I can when teaching history. My dc love it too. We saw the film just before the summer holidays and all 4 of us really enjoyed it. The books are very good too (but obvs don't have the actors and the songs!)

Sgtmajormummy · 07/09/2019 22:24

You’re all forgetting my DD’s crush: Jim Howick!
He’s funny, a good actor and he can SING. Most of the best solo parts are his:
The RAF boy band song
George IV
Blackbeard the Pirate
Vic and Al.

He also seems to be a genuinely nice person and if it’s true that your teenage crush forms your lifelong “type”” DD won’t go far wrong.

KimberWozRobbed · 07/09/2019 22:28

I once had a dream that Larry was my boyfriend. We just walked around holding hands like in high school. It was the best dream ever.

FreezerBird · 07/09/2019 22:33

If Matt Baynton is the one who does it four you I highly recommend the four George's song : Born 2 Rule. Specifically when he sings the line "I was the bad one" and bites his lip.

inwood · 07/09/2019 22:36

It's the only kids programme I can tolerate watching. I've re-learnt a lot I'd forgotten!

Northernlurker · 07/09/2019 22:40

Hmmmm yes. The WW2 song is also very educational.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 07/09/2019 22:46

We love Horrible Histories in this house too!

DS is just starting GCSE history, HH from a tender age was a big influence Grin

confusedofengland · 07/09/2019 22:51

Is it completely wrong that the Dses went to bed hours ago, yet I am here googling all these lovely lovely videos? GrinBlush All in the name of research, obviously!

I have been known to watch HH on my own. Best kids show ever. You can keep Matt - Ben speaks Russian, you know Blush

AmIChangingagain · 08/09/2019 00:59

Absolutely not wrong OP. We've been on iPlayer this week and I'm really old.

Literally

thoroclock · 08/09/2019 01:09

It's Ben Willbond for me!
I 'may' suggest to the DC about watching the film 'Will' again, he gets his top off in that.. Wink

thoroclock · 08/09/2019 01:34

'Bill!!!!'
The film is called Bill!!!
Grin

And if you’re interested there was a fabulous Ghosts thread too.

peachgreen · 08/09/2019 02:14

They're all bloody lovely but Baynton is the one for me too. He's just dreamy.

Heatherjayne1972 · 08/09/2019 07:56

HH is a firm favourite here
Especially pee-cil Using ‘recycled water’.

My Boys love toilet humour

And I’ve learnt stuff too

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 08/09/2019 08:53

Some of these have me in stitches. I love them all, they seem to have a lot of fun making the show too. It's brilliant
