Newborough beach, Anglesey. Stunning.

Chimchar · 26/08/2019 23:24

Wales is quite a big place... there are beaches close to Cardiff that are nice...Barry Island for example, but if you're heading down west, Barafundle is pretty hard to beat.
Tenby is great too, but there are loads of little bays along the coast.
Gower is fab... I'm not familiar with North Wales I'm afraid.

I think it depends on the area you want to visit and what you want from the beach...nice walks etc or sand for kids to paddle and play.

Rhossili

Some beautiful beaches on the Gower. I especially like Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili and Worms Head.

Peanutbuttericecream · 26/08/2019 23:29

The Gower, especially Rhossili!

multivac · 26/08/2019 23:30

It's not 'The' Gower!

Finfintytint · 26/08/2019 23:33

Barmouth
Black Rock sands

Finfintytint · 26/08/2019 23:38

Multivac, why is it not the Gower? No idea but we have The Lleyn peninsular. Makes it seem a bit more important than any old peninsula Grin

Also agree with vote for Newborough. Spent a great day there today (see pics, that don’t do it justice).

Newborough or Rhossili! It depends what you like from a beach though. Both are popular but quite wild. If you like amenities, you might want somewhere else.

sakura06 · 26/08/2019 23:52

I agree with another PP that Tenby is gorgeous, and it's in a town so more facilities than Newborough/Llanddwyn and Rhossili.

Ohyesiam · 26/08/2019 23:59

Barafundle is one of the best beaches on the world imho. I might not know how to spell it though....

Troels · 27/08/2019 07:52

I love Barmouth with the sand dunes and flat sandy parts.
Newborough in Anglsey and Black rock sands.

JellyNo15 · 27/08/2019 07:54

Dozens of lovely sandy beaches in West Wales. White Sands near St David's is one of my favourites and Tenby North Beach.

AuntieMarys · 27/08/2019 07:56

Aberdyfi

VeganVeganVegan · 27/08/2019 07:57

Whitesands in St Davids plus it has a complete dog ban.

peridito · 27/08/2019 07:59

little place mark

Doilooklikeatourist · 27/08/2019 08:02

Manorbier ( was on the beach yesterday )
Tenby , Recently voted best beach , by the Sunday Times ( I think )
Amroth
Wisemans Bridge ( walk through to Coppit Hall and then Saundersfoot
Porthgain ( and walk to Abereiddi , the Blue Lagoon )

I call it "The Gower" and didn't realise it was wrong. I just googled and found this (see pic attached).

So @multivac are you a "local traditionalist"? Wink

Newborough
Fairbourne
Rhossili
Freshwater East / West

I live on in Gower and the beaches are fabulous but my favourite beaches are all on Cardigan bay - Tresaith, Aberporth, Llangennith, Newquay and Mwnt. Pembrokeshire is also stuffed with wonderful beaches - Freshwater West, Barafandle, Caerfai Bay and Whitesands are all marvellous. North Wales has the Lleyn peninsula and Anglesey has great beaches as well.

If you park at Hill End campsite you can access Rhossili beach via a short walk theough the dunes, and can also use the toilets, showers, shop and cafe. I think we paid £4 to park our campervan all day. The beach is stunning, loads of sand at low tide, my boys had a surfing lesson and had a great time.
