I also love Rhossili beach and second the recommendation of accessing it via the Hill End campsite rather than the steep steps at Rhossili. Port Eynon is my favourite beach though - shorter walk from the car park and closer toilets than Rhossili, fab rock pools and shops, including fish & chips.

cathyandclare · 27/08/2019 09:07

Came on to say Rhossili or Three Cliffs. Mwnt is lovely in Cardigan too.

I'm from the area and say Gower or The Gower, short for The Gower Peninsula interchangeably, either are acceptable IMO

Yorkshiredolls · 27/08/2019 09:08

Newborough, Anglesey. absolutely stunning with forest, dunes, and outstanding views of Snowdonia and the peninsula

KaliOMalley · 27/08/2019 09:10

Caswell Bay is beautiful, in Swansea. Perfect place for young children to learn to surf!

Cwtches123 · 27/08/2019 09:11

Another local here who says The Gower!

Wales has so many wonderful sandy beaches you are spoilt for choice- it just depends on what you want, remote with no facilities or easy parking, cafe and toilets?

Where are you travelling from and what are you looking for?

piefacedClique · 27/08/2019 09:11

Three cliffs, Caswell (if you want facilities), Langland (if you want a cracking lunch or dinner too!), Tor Bay 😍😍😍, Whitfoed if you want remote and a cool walk there through woods and then out to a lighthouse (tide dependant).... Basically anywhere in Gower 😍

TheFaithfulBorderBinbag · 27/08/2019 09:15

I used to live in Swansea and the beach there is lovely IMHO. God I miss Swansea!

Aethelthryth · 27/08/2019 09:18

Marloes
Barafundle
Manorbier
Druidstone

So are you a "local traditionalist"?

lol - no, just trained by one. Although she'd be shocked to learn that's what she is!

pickingdaisies · 27/08/2019 11:44

Lived in Swansea, always called it The Gower, and it's immortalised in song (Did you ever see, sung on many a school trip!). The Gower peninsula. Sorry if that offends anyone (why does it though?) Take your pick OP, there's no shortage of glorious beaches.

isabellerossignol · 27/08/2019 11:48

I'm going to vote for every single beach that I saw when I visited North Wales. They were all amazing. (And my local beaches are on the north coast of Antrim, so I am not easily impressed when it comes to beaches.!)

Gah, I want to go back to Wales, it's beautiful.

Haggisfish · 27/08/2019 11:51

Huzzah-just going to wales today and picked up the campsite parking tip-thank you!

Dowser · 27/08/2019 11:54

We are at Barry now
It’s been rammed over the bank holiday
Might get a bit quieter this week but wouldn’t bank on it

RocketRacoonsFurryBalls · 27/08/2019 12:08

Tenby beaches are fab, especially the south beach.

Ynyslas beach near Borth.

Moonflower12 · 27/08/2019 12:10

@grannycake
I was just coming g on to say the same ones! Plus Penbryn.

clucky3 · 27/08/2019 14:03

Rhossili Bay

Macca284 · 27/08/2019 14:09

New gale is lovely!

MinnieMountain · 27/08/2019 15:18

Whitesands
Manorbier
Freshwater

SIL is a big fan of Solva.

Porthgain is a harbour
The Blue Lagoon is a flooded quarry next to a pebbly beach.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 27/08/2019 15:32

Oxwich in Gower is gorgeous, the DC have spent so many happy days there.

Rhossili is lovely as everyone's said, and Caswell, Port Eynon and Three Cliffs are all wonderful. I know you weren't asking about it, but Verdi's restaurant in Mumbles does an amazing cherry soda if you're ever there, too.

Celeriacacaca · 27/08/2019 15:38

Caswell (we stayed in a fab chalet just a short walk from the beach) or
Langland. Both within easy distance of Mumbles and Swansea.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 27/08/2019 15:57

Poppit sands near Newport is a gem, as is Three Cliffs on the Gower.

clucky3 · 27/08/2019 16:23

Also three cliffs bay is gorgeous
