Nothing they can do about a broken toe is there. **pic** not very pretty.

Kicked the sofa yesterday running to the baby.
It hit just across the middle of my little toe but the bit below is the most purple.

My toes went white for a while after, no blood flow.
Then this.
Hurts like buggery.

Sorry about the horrible nail, I think it lifted the nail too and now that lost awful as well.

Fucking hell OP!!

I’m not a doctor but you sure that’s “just” a broken toe and you haven’t done yourself a greater mischief?

Cbawy · 22/08/2019 18:11

Ouch! Bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel for you Flowers

HelenaJustina · 22/08/2019 18:15

If it looks like that after Rest, Elevation and Icing... I’d be requesting an x-ray I think.

tbh it does look like you could have injured the metatarsal.

of you trot (haha) to a&e (or minor injuries if they have c-ray)

good luck!

Aposterhasnoname · 22/08/2019 18:18

Eeek. I’d be getting that looked at if I were you. Looks nasty.

Hawkmoth · 22/08/2019 18:20

Get it seen.

How are the white toes now?

MrsMozartMkII · 22/08/2019 18:22

Hop off to a walk- in(!) centre or A&E lass.

Hope the pain buggers off soon.

Mrsemcgregor · 22/08/2019 18:22

You could have easily broken just below the toe knuckle with that bruising. X-Ray for you!

Also ice, ibuprofen and elevation Flowers

Hairyheadphones · 22/08/2019 18:23

My son broke his toe (the one next to the big toe). At minor injuries the nurse felt it and then strapped it to the next toe for some support. He could tell it was broken without an x-ray.

picklemepopcorn · 22/08/2019 18:27

White toes is not good, OP. Get it seen!

Papergirl1968 · 22/08/2019 18:28

I think I broke my little toe a few years ago when I kicked the lawnmower (as in tripped not kicked in temper!)
My little toe was pointing diagonally for about three weeks and it was painful but I don’t remember any bruising. I didn’t get it looked at but I would if I was you as that looks horrific.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/08/2019 18:30

That looks like more than a broken toe to me. I've broken my toe a couple of times and the bruising/swelling has been limited to the toe itself, rather than the whole foot, especially after the initial redness, etc. I'd get it looked at, I think... Flowers

hellojim · 22/08/2019 18:30

Ouch it looks like DD's a few months ago when she bumped it on a door frame. There wasn't much to be done apart from strapping it for support, ice and ibuprofen. I would get an x ray just so that you know whether it's broken or not - if you ever have any bone issues in the future you would be asked how many breaks you have had so it's good to know.

Billballbaggins · 22/08/2019 18:32

Jesus Christ OP that looks like more than a broken toe. My dad broke his and his door did not go that bruised! And the break was BAD. I think that may need an X-ray

Billballbaggins · 22/08/2019 18:33

His foot* not door obviously!

didyoujustbreak · 22/08/2019 18:37

I just called the minor injuries and they said unless it's the big toe they won't X-ray it because broken or not it won't affect the management of it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I will hobble on!

I've broken my foot before the metatarsal and it feels much higher up that that.
It feels like the joint.

I did ask if they would X-ray it if it seemed dislocated and they said no the just leave it.

All those little broken toes out there, left to fend for themselves! 😂

AwdBovril · 22/08/2019 18:41

I would at least get a GP to look at that - if you've only spoken with them over the phone, they've only had your assumption that it's only the toes that are injured. Best to at least get it checked out.

notsodimwit · 22/08/2019 18:44

Oh op! That looks so sore....I have stubbed my toe today (no bruising and definitely not broken) but it hurts like hellSad you have my utmost sympathyFlowers

UrsulaPandress · 22/08/2019 18:47

I did similar before a 12 hour flight. Had to hobble round Doha airport barefoot.

Nothing to be done. Frozen peas and elevation.

RoseMartha · 22/08/2019 18:49

I did that to my toe exactly same way you did it took six months to heal wore trainers as could not bear any shoes on.

I didnt go to a and e as I didnt think they could do anything. But if you are worried you should go there.

gottastopeatingchocolate · 22/08/2019 18:49

I would pop in and have it seen if I were in your position.

I broke a toe once and the toe looked like that - not most of the foot!

Were you clear with the person you spoke to how much bruising there is?

picklemepopcorn · 22/08/2019 18:50

The bruising is not very interesting,

Did you mention the white toes?!

picklemepopcorn · 22/08/2019 18:51

Are the toes the same colour on your healthy foot? 'Cos in the photo they still look white.

ThatCurlyGirl · 22/08/2019 18:54

OOF poor you, looks so sore!!

If not walk in or A&E can you get on the day appointments with your GP at all? I really think that could do with someone seeing it IRL if you can go tomorrow.

Foot injuries can be so complicated and the effects long lasting, often left untreated like hand injuries and then niggle for years.

Even if they can just prescribe you some painkillers stronger than over the counter ones that would probably make a big difference to your comfort levels at least.

Hope it feels better soon Thanks

didyoujustbreak · 22/08/2019 18:55

No I didn't tell them about the white toes and I didn't describe the bruising.

It was more of a "do you X-ray toes?"

"Only the big toe."

And not much else. She said if I could drive it would be fine. I can drive with my foot off the side a bit, but screech every time I change gear.
I'm driving past the MI unit tomorrow I will go in and show them just in case.
