I've posted about this on another thread, but thought it was worth a thread of its own. Today I went to see the nurse practitioner as I've had a sore ear for a while now, and last night it started to bleed.

She took a quick look and noted that, not only do I have an outer ear infection, but stuck in the dried blood inside my ear, was a teeny tiny baby spider. In my ear. Actually inside my fucking ear. It had obviously crawled in during the night, got stuck in the drying blood and died there. What, in the name of all that is good and holy, is that about?

I've calmed down now, and I'm actually finding it funny, but it wasn't funny earlier. I actually asked her to check there wasn't an entire family of babies living in there. I still feel like I may never sleep again, and I'm not allowed to use earplugs until its healed Sad

Please tell me someone has had something worse than this?!

This is fascinating do you have pictures? I must admit I went 'awwww' with your description of a teeny tiny baby spider!

Lovely story!

TheNestedIf · 22/08/2019 01:40

So, basically, you are Wookey Hole for spiders?

Olinguito · 22/08/2019 01:50

I thought you were going to say a great big hairy one was living in there. A tiny baby spider doesn't sound too bad!

You have no other option but cut your ear off I'm afraid.

TeamUnicorn · 22/08/2019 07:03

I'm not sure whether to be fascinated by the idea of a spider crawling into an ear or wanting to tape up my rears for evermore.

I suppose better in the ear than the stomach.

Barbarafromblackpool · 22/08/2019 07:06

Cutting the ear off would leave a larger hole...

It was a baby spider; that’s not so bad.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/08/2019 07:22

Awwwwwwww.

barryfromclareisfit · 22/08/2019 07:29

I can well believe it. I had some spider bites on my face. One morning I saw the bastard walking towards me across the pillow, confident he would once again breakfast on my blood. He died hungry.

fortheloveofPete · 22/08/2019 07:50

It's spider season as well.

They're huge this year too. I'm not scared of them and can usually pick them up with a glass but the last two had the hoover treatment & lasts nights big bastard is still lurking around somewhere after the cat failed to do her one job and kill it.

Mitebiteatnite · 22/08/2019 11:41

I do actually feel a bit sorry for him now. He only wanted a little adventure. How was he to know my ear canal was full of rapidly drying blood?

There was a thread where the op had maggots growing under her skin. She could feel them moving. The spider in your ear is horrifying!

MitziK · 22/08/2019 12:35

What sort of spiders do you have that taping up your rear would be an option, @teamunicorn?

tinofbeans · 22/08/2019 15:04

This has reminded me of a horrific experience I had a few years ago...

I woke up one morning to discover a funny brown splodge on the back of my pjs. Further investigation revealed a massive spider squashed on my bedsheet. Each leg was at least an inch long. It was hideous and I've never quite recovered! BlushHmm

Stapelberg · 22/08/2019 18:01

Right... Just so you all know... There's no such thing as a small spider! 🤣 In my opinion all spiders are monsters w exposed fangs dripping w poison, staring menacingly at me with all eight their beady eyes, ready to pounce on me and inject me with some kind of nerve agent. The only spider I can remotely tolerate is a dead spider.
But of course, people may differ...! 🤣

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 22/08/2019 18:04

oh I would cry and cry and cry. I do not like spiders to be near me, never mind touch me or get in my crevices for shelter.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/08/2019 18:17

A thread from Classics - I have literally twatted a spider to death.
