I’ve had a refund on my sausages

I bought sausages and bacon from Asda as part of my online shop.
They were part of the 2 for £4.00 offer.
The sausages were dated on the delivery day, so I complained and was refunded.
The original price for the sausages would have been £2.25 if bought separately, the bacon would have been £2.50.

How much would you have been expected to have refunded?

£2

Lipz · 18/08/2019 20:07

2 quid, what I paid.

Sparklingbrook · 18/08/2019 20:08

I would have frozen the sausages. Did you get to keep them?

£2

I guess £1.50, as then you're paying 'normal' price for the bacon?

Sparklingbrook · 18/08/2019 20:08

Oh and yes £2.

FelicityMarbles · 18/08/2019 20:08

This sounds like part of a Maths GCSE test Smile

£1.50 as I'm now paying full price for the bacon as I'm not buying an offer now.

However, if it were me I'd just refund half so the customer still benefits from a saving due to the short date.

FelicityMarbles · 18/08/2019 20:09

I was refunded £1.89

OP posts:
Hwory · 18/08/2019 20:09

They refunded you £1.50?

Joopy · 18/08/2019 20:09

1.50?

Sparklingbrook · 18/08/2019 20:09

Did you get to keep the sausages?

MamaRaisingBoys · 18/08/2019 20:09

£1.50, puts you back into the position you would have been in if you’d just had just paid for bacon

twirlypoo · 18/08/2019 20:10

Well that’s bloody random! Have you asked why?!

FelicityMarbles · 18/08/2019 20:10

Spoken to two customer service people and they insist it was right but couldn’t quite explain why.
I would have expected £2.00

Had similar with tesco as was refunded half the offer price. Where did they get £1.89 from?

HundredMilesAnHour · 18/08/2019 20:11

£1.50

You paid £4 for the sausages and the bacon combined but by returning the sausages, you are no longer eligible for the combined price. On it's own the bacon is £2.50 so you should be refunded £1.50. (£4 combo price less £2.50 bacon price).

MamaRaisingBoys · 18/08/2019 20:11

How did they get to £1.89?

LizzieMacQueen · 18/08/2019 20:12

I know how they got that.

It's the proportion of £4 that relates to the sausages. Based on their original full price.

Gort · 18/08/2019 20:12

I'd have guessed either £1.50 or £1.75 so you're up on the deal.

FelicityMarbles · 18/08/2019 20:13

Am in Twitter conversation with them ... the last I heard was this ...

My apolgogies, I thought you had only ordered the one pack of sausages and so hadn't taken advantage of the offer! I can now see like you point out the bacon and sausages were both purchased to fulfil this offer. It does appear that the £4 total hasn't been split evenly across both items and that whilst the sausages are listed with a £1.89 charge, the bacon is listed as £2.11 which would make up the difference. I'm not sure why these two items have been split this way as part of the offer and so I'll ask our payments team about this to try and make sense of it! I'll be back as soon as possible to get this sorted.

£4.75 Full and £ 2.25 is sausages

£4 discounted so 4/4.75 x £2.25 relates to sausages That's your £1.89

LizzieMacQueen · 18/08/2019 20:15

Yep that's right. The % element of your £4 that refers to bacon is £2.50 divided by £4.75.

FelicityMarbles · 18/08/2019 20:16

I think you’re right LizzieMac.
But that means I’ve been charged £2.11 for the bacon.
And I wouldn’t have bought a pack of bacon for £2.11, given the choice.
