Apologies if there is already a thread about this.
PC Andrew Harper was murdered in the line of duty last night as he attended reports of a burglary near the A4 in Berkshire. He had just got married and was due to go on honeymoon next week.
Condolences to his family and colleagues, I cannot begin to imagine the horror of it all. 😢😢

It’s just desperately sad and so senseless. A life and a future taken, just like that. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain of those left behind. What possesses people to be so utterly cold and evil? Very, very sad.

28 and 4 weeks wed.

It’s just unbelievably heartbreaking

I live in the next village and have seen the huge police presence all day. I know many people in the police force who knew him and who are devastated. He put his life on the line every day for all of us selflessly, and it took one act of evil to create all this. I hope the people responsible get what's coming to them in spades. It makes me despair about the world that I have brought my four year old into when there are people like them around who give no thought to anything other than their selfish wants. But on the other hand it makes me celebrate that I have brought my four year old into a world where there are people like Andrew Harper around. RIP

Op so sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm a serving officer currently on maternity leave with my second DC and this has really shaken be up today. We put the uniform on every day and know the risks bit it still smacks you in the face when this happens. My heart goes out to Andrews family and colleagues. Rest in peace brother your shift has ended 💙

I'm so sad for his wife and family. Yesterday they had everything but now it's all been cruelly snatched away. There's no words.

May he RIP 💔

How terrible. Poor man and poor family. It reminds me of the terrible story of the police officer who was been murdered in Rome. He did so much for the local community and had also just been married. It'd still be utterly tragic even if he wasn't, but the thought of going so quickly from such a happy occasion to one so terrible is particularly heartbreaking.

I hope that the vile individuals responsible are put away for a very long time. There seems to be so many attacks on police officers in the news lately, with the brave officer who was attacked by a man with a machete and the poor officer who was run over by his own vehicle and suffered terrible injuries. Also the Rome attack and attacks in Philadelphia and California.

This is just so, so sad. His poor family and colleagues; Thank You PC Harper, RIP.

It's so desperately sad, my thoughts have been with his loved ones today.

I can't even begin to get my head around how anyone could do that to someone, life in prison doesn't even come close to being an appropriate sentence.

Thank you to all of our Police Officers, you have an unenviable job.

I also live very locally and haven’t been able to get PC Harper and his family out of my head. It is absolutely heartbreaking. I hope that these people arrested have the full force of the law thrown at them - sadly I suspect they will not.

There are still masses of road closures around and including that stretch of the A4. We're pretty housebound because of it (im between the crime scene and one of the camps raided) unless i want to do a massive diversion but i am glad the police are doing a thorough investigation and hope they can bring the culprits to court.
