RIP PC Andrew Harper

Apologies if there is already a thread about this.
PC Andrew Harper was murdered in the line of duty last night as he attended reports of a burglary near the A4 in Berkshire. He had just got married and was due to go on honeymoon next week.
Condolences to his family and colleagues, I cannot begin to imagine the horror of it all. 😢😢

We cannot ever under estimate the bravery and selflessness of every single policeman/woman every time they go on duty, they need more backing and support from all of us and the government. God Bless Andrew Harper and his devastated family #thethinblueline

I'm on the other side of Berks.

In a so-called 'naice' town.

There's a trend at the moment for people to use knives and other weapons to hold up delivery drivers on other people's doorsteps and we've had reports of a duo with an axe knocking on people's doors in the very early hours etc.

A lot of burglary and attempted burglary, and petty thefts where knives are involved.

It's really sad this man has died. I'm appalled at the spread of violence at the moment.

Hopefully they already have the right person(s) in custody (if I've read it right, the news says about ten people are in custody aged between 13 + 30).

So sad.

I’ve just been reading about this tragedy. He and his wife looked so happy on their wedding day only 4 weeks ago. So fucking tragic.

I live very close. There was a huge police presence for a long time after it happened. They did a big raid in the vicinity of my house at 7am to make arrests. ( cant be more specific for obvious reasons) Hopefully the guilty ones have been arrested and it will go to trial.

There has been a huge increase in thefts and asb recently in the area over the last few years. So sad.
