DS and friends have got the results they needed so I expected they would be out partying. Nope they have no plans to do anything. Is this how it is with young people now?

Nothing much. Went out for lunch with family.

We offered that he said nah... It seems like such an anti climax.

I went out with my friends and drank a lot! This was 1991.

TapasForTwo · 15/08/2019 14:28

DD went to breakfast with her best friend. A few of them went out for a drink in the evening.

AdelaideK · 15/08/2019 14:29

Went and got pissed with my friends. It was 1995.

DS won't do that. He hates alcohol.

UncomfortableSilence · 15/08/2019 14:30

It was 1994, most of our year met in the pub which was at the top of the road where our school was...it didn't end well Grin

velocitygirl7 · 15/08/2019 14:30

I didn't do a levels at 18 but dd has had a celebratory 'posh' breakfast in town with me and is off out with all her pals later.

ExpletiveDelighted · 15/08/2019 14:36

Went to work.

onemouseplace · 15/08/2019 14:41

Spent the afternoon wallowing in misery because I hadn’t got the grades I needed for either of my choices and then going through the clearing handbook.

It was a really weird day actually. Certainly didn’t go out and get pissed that evening.

EssexGurl · 15/08/2019 14:43

My results were so long ago, the school just got a computer print out that they taped to the hall windows - so everyone saw everyone else’s results. Thanks to grand old snail mail, only one half of my results turned up on the Thursday. So no idea if I was going to university or not, had to wait until the next day - 2 sleepless nights! But I got them and went to my first choice university.

Went out to the local nightclub with my best friend and cousin on the Friday night to celebrate. No mass celebrations, just small groups going out. The lag in results didn’t help. But we all went out and alcohol was definitely involved!

IAskTooManyQuestions · 15/08/2019 14:43

We had ours posted home, back in the 80's. No one made this song and dance of everything.

Faircastle · 15/08/2019 14:58

My parents lived on a different continent and I had to spend every summer holiday there. My friends celebrated their A-level results together. I collected mine by phone and had nobody to celebrate with as all my friends were thousands of miles away. Also missed out on going inter-railing with them.

With adult hindsight, being apart from your friends for the long summer after A-levels is not the end of the world, but at the time I really felt like I was missing out.

LoafofSellotape · 15/08/2019 15:00

I didn't do A levels but D's has been at the pub with all his mates since about 10 am Grin

Nottobesoldseparately · 15/08/2019 15:02

I went to work.
I had already drifted from my school mates so I wasn't that fussed for drinking with them.

vampirethriller · 15/08/2019 15:06

Rang my mother to tell her (I didn't live with my parents by then) and went to work. I think I went out with some friends that evening.

KateUrrer · 15/08/2019 15:10

I did nothing special.

It was the eighties: nothing had opened yet. Our local was for old men.

KateUrrer · 15/08/2019 15:11

We all saw each others' grades too.

KateUrrer · 15/08/2019 15:12

Then they were published in the local paper so there was nothing to reveal.

BringMeTea · 15/08/2019 15:12

Went out nightclubbin' of course! I don't know what's wrong with the youth of today. Smile

AudTheDeepMinded · 15/08/2019 15:13

It was my birthday! Started off terribly at the thought of getting them, couldn't eat breakfast so nervous. Collected them from school, had got really quite decent grades. Large crowd of friends went to local café and hung out for a few hours. Think had family birthday meal out in evening. Happy days.

wowfudge · 15/08/2019 15:15

Got my results then walked to the pub for a couple of drinks with a group of friends. Took some photos then walked home. It was very tame.

pikapikachu · 15/08/2019 15:15

He's ironing right now. No plans to see his friends at all.

Chilledout11 · 15/08/2019 15:17

I spent the day trying to sorted to get into university (3rd choice as I missed my insurance offer)
Didn't go out or anything

Pannalash · 15/08/2019 15:18

Wept Grin

LER83 · 15/08/2019 15:22

Year 2000. Went round a friends after and sunbathed & had a few drinks in the garden. Then went to see my boyfriends parents (he was on holiday), had more drinks, don't remember all the details but pretty sure I had a nice meal with my family, then went clubbing. I was very drunk so it's all a bit hazy Grin
