Haven't bought anything yet but prob be around £30 for shoes for eldest (youngest not new shoes recently). Around £20 on polo shirts, new dress for youngest and socks. Then need a new cardigan for eldest and pe shirt for youngest when they go back. Probably around £60-70 in total.
Thankfully dresses , cardigans and pe shorts get passed down to youngest and i have someone who gives me bigger dresses/skirts for eldest.

Youmadorwhat · 12/08/2019 20:41

Yes I did have polo shirts from late last year that still fit so that was one thing I didn’t have to buy at least. She needed new skirts do I got them in tesco.

That sounds a lot. I have bought DS 14, 2 pairs of trousers, 3 shirts and men’s shoes all from M&S and it came to £90. Need to spend another 60 or so on a blazer and PE shirt/shorts from local shop.

Oh and he needs a new back pack.

drsausage · 12/08/2019 20:43

Nothing. I haven't even bought anything for DD who's going away to college.

At some point we'll spend about $60 on books, pens etc for my two high schoolers.

isabellerossignol · 12/08/2019 20:44

I'm expecting it to cost around £500 or so, for one 13 year old and one 7 year old. It's painful.

00100001 · 12/08/2019 20:44

How have you spent £300 on school uniform and shoes for a 6yo?? Confused

Youmadorwhat · 12/08/2019 20:45

@SeaViewBliss I know! 😭 and she didn’t even need a new school bag either...Hmm

Invisimamma · 12/08/2019 20:46

Around £300, for 2 children, that includes new winter jackets, shoes and bags. 2 children.

I get most of the uniform bits in Tu 25% off event. 5 sets of everything. Only bought one logo jumper this year. Some of eldest ds things have been handed down too, so there was less to buy for the younger one.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/08/2019 20:46

DS needed a new pen 7,99 € and gym shoes 49,90 € and some paper.

Youmadorwhat · 12/08/2019 20:48

@00100001 it was for books and stationary, lunch bag and water bottle, skirt x2 shoes, runners, jumpers x3, new coat, and probably something else I can’t remember Confused

£510 so far for 2 kids aged 4 and7. That is excluding shoes and that is one of them using coat and blazer from last year as well as some shirts, blouses tunic and no PE kit for the younger one as she's using her brother's old set.

00100001 · 12/08/2019 20:49

Using m&S for a generous amount of uniform

2 X skirts for £10
6x polo is £24
3x jumpers £21
Shoes ~£25-30
6x tights £22

That's not anywhere near£300...

SquintEastwood · 12/08/2019 20:50

£197.50 for 6yo and 13yo.

6yo got new school bag, pencil case, school shoes, pe shoes, 5 school jumpers, 6 polo shirts, 4 pairs of trousers, a lunch bag and bento box.

Reusing last year's cardigans, shorts/t-shirt for PE, water bottle and jacket.

13yo got 4 pairs of trousers, 6 shirts, 2 hoodies, trainers, scientific calculator and stationary.

Reusing last year's tie, school bag, shorts and t-shirt for PE, water bottle, pencil case and jacket as it was bought near end of term anyway.

Foodtheif · 12/08/2019 20:50

About £55 so far for two. Shirts for both, tights for one, trousers for one, jumper for one. Still got school shoes for both to do and also football boots. Really hoping pe kits will last a bit longer.

Youmadorwhat · 12/08/2019 20:50

@00100001 you just reminded me she will need tights too! 😭

OP posts:
Foodtheif · 12/08/2019 20:51

Oh yeah one will need a pencil case and both will need lunch boxes replacing too.

OhMsBeliever · 12/08/2019 20:52

£300! For 1 primary aged child. I don't think I've ever spent that even when I had 5 in school. They only ever had new uniform if they needed it, not just because it was a new school year. And they had hand me downs too.

Nothing so far. 2 need shoes but it's their final year of school so I'm making them squeeze into everything else. Grin Their blazers are a right state but I'm not shelling out £70 for new ones. Actually, I think only 1 might need shoes as I bought some not that long ago. 🤔

Youmadorwhat · 12/08/2019 20:54

@OhMsBeliever I’m in Ireland so books alone cost me 135! 😭

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/08/2019 20:55

How on earth does that come to 300??

Dd and ds each need -
New shoes 25 each
New sandshoes 7 each
5 polo shirts 8 each
8 bottoms (4pp) 5 each
Two jumpers 6
Two cardigans 8

So 150 for two kids. And I'll probably pick most of it up cheaper by shopping around a bit and realising last year's skirts still fit dd etc.

300 for one is madness.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/08/2019 20:55

Oh and my each is "each child", not " each item"

Invisimamma · 12/08/2019 20:56

@00100001 also what about winter coats, school bag, lunch boxes, water bottles, stationary, name labels, underwear, gym kits, sports shoes, a gym bag, trousers, shorts, socks.
It can very easily run into £100s.

Aderyn19 · 12/08/2019 20:56

About £180 so far. That's for 2 blazers, 2 jumpers, a tie, school shirts × 6 and skirts x 4.
I have shorts and t shirts for OE already. Might need cheap PE trainers since DD won't want to take her nice ones and will need school shoes but am getting those as late as possible.
Have bought calculator/maths set already but need new pencil case/pens.
Am trying to buy as little as possible. DD has a nice bag already and coats.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/08/2019 20:57

Is this her second year? If so, does she really need a new lunch bag and water bottle?

What books are you buying?

sugarbum · 12/08/2019 20:58

£100 on football boots ( only ones in the entire massive sports direct that would fit him) £50 on new school shoes. That was it for ds1. His uniform should still fit as should ds2s. They s!ready had new trousers\shorts last term. I bought ds2 a new Harry potter lunchbox and bottle so thAt was £20.
