Bedridden third trimester.

hereforasillygoosetime · 09/08/2019 16:39

Did anyone else experience this when in 3rd trimester? I have to lie down for 90% of the day because I am so short of breath standing up/sitting/walking/moving in general.
I am on blood thinners already due to a blood clot in my first pregnancy 11 years ago, so it can't be an embolism. I am currently refusing to attend consultant appointments because the hospital is an hour away plus up to 3 hr waiting times on uncomfortable chairs when you get there (not an option when ya can barely breathe!) ... they keep sending me new appointment letters even though I've explained the problem.

Is it normal to be pretty much bedridden because the baby hasn't 'dropped'? I didn't get this with previous pregnancies. TIA

Oh gosh OP I do wish you’d gone in earlier as you might have had an easier time of it but I’m really glad that you’re being looked after now
Can’t help on the tablets question but it does sound like they are taking you seriously?

hereforasillygoosetime · 13/08/2019 22:42

Thanks all. They're concerned about how low the ferritin is and exclaimed no wonder I could hardly breathe...I'm a bit bummed about their plans to put me on the tablets though as these can take a couple of weeks to make you feel better and by then I'll be really close to my induction with no guarantee levels will be high enough anyway.

With regard to coming in earlier, I do feel like if the midwives has done what they were supposed to 8 weeks ago and put me on iron/informed drs I wouldn't be in this position now. Not even the midwife on Sunday did what she was supposed to do, take bloods for ferritin!!

I already have dhiarrhoea most of the time so a bit concerned about side effects of the tablets too Confused

Iron tablets can give you constipation so they may actually help

Teddybear45 · 13/08/2019 22:52

I am on blood thinners too. I was told as they lower blood pressure the only way to get rid of the fatigue is to drink lots or water and keep moving. Laying about all day and missing your consultant appointments is just going to make things worse

I’m so glad you’re now in hospital getting treatment!

FluffyCloudsInTheSky · 14/08/2019 07:28

So glad you are both being checked out Thanks

justasking111 · 14/08/2019 19:13

Hope your tests went well today OP

@justasking111 thank you 😊

Scans clear for blood clots, getting an iron transfusion in the morning 🙏🏻 wahey!

Really pleased they are now treating your properly with a transfusion coming tomorrow and be firm if they try not to do it after all. You need to get your strength up fast and the tablets take time to kick in Thanks

Shahlalala · 14/08/2019 19:37

So glad to hear they are doing the transfusion! You will feel so much better.

My iron and haemoglobin were low and the ferrous fumurate has made such a difference. I hope you have a better couple of weeks before baby arrives. Flowers

Ps I had had blood taken, no call and felt dreadful so called them. There had been a prescription waiting for 3 days (weeks after the test) but nobody had called me.... it is frustrating.

Runningintothesunset · 14/08/2019 20:17

Great news! You’re going to feel so so much better

FluffyCloudsInTheSky · 01/09/2019 19:18

Hope you are much better now OP!?

hereforasillygoosetime · 03/09/2019 09:12

@FluffyCloudsInTheSky so much better thank you!! Took about a week after the transfusion, but can finally breathe again and cleaned the house, car etc - felt like Cinderella 😂
