If I get rid of sky what should I get instead.

I’ve had enough of them. I’ve complained about the price again and they have offered me frankly a rubbish deal to stay - so that’s it.

We have Netflix but need a normal signal for for the TV and something that can tape things.
We watch the normal channels and a few more like discovery and history.
We do have sky movies but might try and do without - no interest in sports.

Who does everyone recommend.

We swapped to Now TV but it can’t tape.

StrumpersPlunkett · 01/08/2019 21:28

We have free view through a human recorder. Love recording lots of stuff live tv rewind etc

Isthebigwomanhere · 01/08/2019 21:30

Now tv ,freeview and Netflix

Allthepinkunicorns · 01/08/2019 21:30

We have Netflix and now tv, now tv has some off the sky shows. I have had sky, bt and virgin and I won't be wasting my money on any of these in the future when Netflix, now tv and freeview are available.

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 01/08/2019 21:31

We have Now TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime. We’ve not missed Sky apart from the single interface.

Ihatesundays · 01/08/2019 21:47

Is Now TV got a good range of channels.

DH is moaning about Sky Arts going Confused

Ihatesundays · 01/08/2019 21:57

Can I tape from now tv?

Paperdolly · 01/08/2019 22:01

Get rid of Sky...replace with fresh air and outdoor hobbies. 😉

Ihatesundays · 01/08/2019 22:11

DH has been housebound for 6 months so that’s not an option.

You can’t tape from Nowtv I don’t think, but everything is in box sets so you won’t need to. I have Nowtv and Netflix. Plenty to watch, much cheaper.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 01/08/2019 22:15

We have freesat through a recording box (humax) and Netflix.

PandaToTheMasses · 01/08/2019 22:15

Freesat. You can record.

Cocolapew · 01/08/2019 22:18

Sky Arts is on Now TV.

buckeejit · 01/08/2019 22:34

How much is now tv please? Is it a plug in boxbthing like sky?

MadameJosephine · 01/08/2019 22:36

I just use my fire stick with Netflix and prime TV

Ihatesundays · 01/08/2019 23:40

I think we can just watch through our tv.

I’m cancelling sky tomorrow (esp is sky arts is on there!).

I think we might need to get some kind of free view box as well?

The package I am looking at is about £56 for 6 months - tv and sky movies. I am a fool for not looking before!

We have youview plus (freeview channels, can record rewind pause live tv etc, also on demand) and occasionally we buy something extra through amazon prime (but no prime membership).

There’s plenty to watch if you keep an eye on what’s coming up and set it to record. There’s a youview app so you can set recordings remotely.

No ongoing cost at all - you just buy the youview box and that’s it.

Cocolapew · 01/08/2019 23:52

I watch it with a Now TV stick, got it for £11 in B& M, you don't need a plug in box like sky and you can cancel at anytime.
We got it free for 3 months through McDonalds monopoly Grin we use it a lot so have decided to keep it.
You should be able to get a free trial, check their website.

Cocolapew · 01/08/2019 23:54

I pay about £6 or 7 for Now TV , I have Sky Movies through it atm but only because they offered it half price for a few months.

Simonfromharlow · 01/08/2019 23:55

I've just cancelled sky and got BT tv. Good channels

IchiNiSan · 01/08/2019 23:57

You can download the NowTV app to see which programmes are available.

Not everything is available as a box set, but you can watch the channels live too. You can watch their programmes on a few devices and they all hardware (boxes /sticks) to plug into your TV, I just use a chromecast.

RubbingHimSourly · 01/08/2019 23:58

I love now TV.

Also if you go to cancel they offer it for £2 a month for four months

thatonesmine · 02/08/2019 00:00

@minipie how many programmes can you record simultaneously on youview? We've got recordable Freesat but can only record 2 things at a time.

minipie · 02/08/2019 00:04

Same here, 2 recordings at a time. Almost never a problem though, if there’s a clash they tell me and I switch one of them to record on the +1hr version or when it’s repeated at 3 in the morning.

MunaZaldrizoti · 02/08/2019 00:11

Amazon Fire Stick is the best thing I've gotten in ages
