The previous owner passed away so we can't ask her.

You can't see in the pic but the number 9 is flashing and I can get it to not flash. I also can't get the hob to actually heat up at all.
DH Googled the make and serial number which didn't help.
He threw his hands in the air and said "I don't know, you're going to have to ask Mumsnet."

I don't think I can live just in oven foods, I'm not imaginative enough.

I need a hob! Please help me!

I can’t see the picture but I know that I can’t turn my oven on if the time isn’t set. Could it be something like that?

HuckfromScandal · 01/08/2019 15:18

Need to see the pic 😂

HuckfromScandal · 01/08/2019 15:19

Mine can be reset by holding the on off button down for 5/10 secs

It’s not an induction hob is it? That wouldn’t heat up until you put a pan on it.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 01/08/2019 15:20

Funny you should say that, I couldn't get the oven to work a minute ago - until I set the time!

Unfortunately that's not the case with the hob though

I'm not sure, but there was a pan on it for sometime yesterday and the pasta never cooked.

PancakeAndKeith · 01/08/2019 15:21

Yes, I posted before the picture. It’s induction. You’ll need to put a pan on it before it’ll heat up.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 01/08/2019 15:22

I've just put a pan on one and it's making a ticking noise... it didn't do that yesterday.

Still no heat yet though

If it’s an induction hob it needs to be specific pans, not just any pan as it needs to attract the magnets to conduct the heat (or something like that!).

mrspotatohed · 01/08/2019 15:22

I had to figure one of these types out in Vietnam 🙄 you have to lock the number in before it will start to heat up, the flashing means the number isn't locked in and the number is obviously the heat level. I'm not sure how to lock it in on that, maybe set the number to highest and then press the corresponding hob button and give it a minute to see if it's getting warm.

I think this is the manual.

HuckfromScandal · 01/08/2019 15:23

Is it a pan suitable for inductions.

Easier way to test.
Does a magnet stick to the bottom of the pan.
If not
It won’t work

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 01/08/2019 15:23

It beeped loudly and turned off.

Knitclubchatter · 01/08/2019 15:23

Have you tried unplugging and plugging it back in? Or the breaker on and off?

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 01/08/2019 15:24

No they are crappy Tesco pans which are about 15 years old.
Fuck we need special pans?!

OP posts:
PancakeAndKeith · 01/08/2019 15:24

Go to page 31 for English.

PancakeAndKeith · 01/08/2019 15:25

I’ve linked to the manual up thread.

HuckfromScandal · 01/08/2019 15:25

So the 9 has gone?
Sounds like your pans aren’t compatible

MmmBlowholes · 01/08/2019 15:26

Yes you need special pans. Use the manual another user posted for you. FYI: Most manuals are available online should you have a similar issue in future.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 01/08/2019 15:26

The magnat didn't stick.

Fuck me, we are so broke. And now we need induction pans!

They sound expensive.

Re the FYI, we did try but both failed and finding one. I knew MN would come to the rescue!!

I have this hob! It is an induction hob.

Yes, the rings will not heat up without weighted pans on. They need to be special ones to connect with something in the hob. As soon as they connect, it heats up super fast.

Mine is faster than my old gas hob, I had to rethink a few of my dinners as it cooks so fast!

ScarlettOHarasWaist · 01/08/2019 15:27

You'll need stainless steel, cast iron or carbon steel pans. The hob won't heat up without a pan on it. That's the whole idea of induction hobs.
