I call them trainers and not shoes because of the rubber sole.

The amount of lacing and sole makes them both look like trainers. They would not be acceptable at our school. And not allowed patent leather anyway.

First ones are definitely trainers. The second ones confuse me. The top part looks like a trainer but the sole clearly isn’t??

As a general principle, if you're asking the question then they're probably not proper school shoes and would be borderline at best.

I used to work for Schuh and the item code is for shoes rather than trainers if that helps!

What the shops say vs what they are often differ.

Many uniform arguments I've seen have been centred around 'but the shop had them in the school section', as if leggings trousers for a uniform that says no leggings was ever going to be anything other than a big fat no from school.

One year I saw a white so called 'school shirt' with no collar and peplum detailing over the hips. They had the age from ks2-3. It's not a school shirt.

I should add, it suits shops to categorise fashionable borderline items (or even not uniform items) in the school section because they rely on a few things to secure a purchase:

1. Pester power and claims that everyone else will have
2. Parents thinking if it's in the uniform section then it'll probably be ok

Shops aren't bothered about if what they're selling is school uniform. They just want to push stock and make money any way they can.

The DMs are still trainers, I think it’s all in the sole and the wide laces. Might get them for me though!

My DD has those exact shoes for school (the Kickers patent ones). No one's complained to us yet!

Ha! Knew i was right.

Not Only am I going down the 'theyre not compliant with school uniform policy route' but also the you have to walk a mile in them in winter and therefore your feet need to be warm and dry.

I see many kids where I live walking home and many have the shoes/trainers you have shown. In fact it was mainly those or actual trainers, only a small amount wear shoes!
