Does anyone else look forward to having the house to themselves?

Just that really.
DH has to go abroad on business once a year for a week.
My DC are adults not living at home, so I have a week of just me and the dog. I really enjoy planning what to do for the week, having a bowl of rice pudding for my dinner if I fancy it etc.
I look forward to him coming back of course Smile.
My friends seem aghast that I like my own company, one suggesting that my dd should stay over.
So am I odd or do other people enjoy time to themselves ?

I love it!!

QueenEnid · 28/07/2019 11:00

YANBU!!!
My OH is working away next week and whilst it's tough because I have 2 small DC, it's also infinitely easier to have down time when there's not another person messing up the house/wanting a fully cooked dinner (when I'm happy with beans on toast!) 😂

DropZoneOne · 28/07/2019 11:01

I love it!

Cern · 28/07/2019 11:02

Love it! Not that it happens very often as we are three generations in one house!

anonforthespies43267 · 28/07/2019 11:02

I love it! I work from home mostly and unless I speak on the phone can go a whole week just me & the dogs if DH is working away. I LOVE IT.

CatsDolls · 28/07/2019 11:02

I love it. I put music on and just potter about doing the little tasks I put off for ”when I get a moment” it's great not having to think about someone else for a while.

Zoflorabore · 28/07/2019 11:02

This is my idea of heaven op :)

I can't believe the amount of people who are seemingly unable to cope without there being someone else in the house. I love my own space and company and it doesn't happen often for me as I have a dp and 2dc.

Enjoy!

Exactly @QueenEnid, I am dropping him very early for his flight then home, walk dog, blitz the house then ordering a takeaway - no cooking for me. Oh and binge watching seasons 2 and 3 of Stranger Things Wink

Glad I'm not the only one, one friend in particular is very vocal about how she couldn't sleep if her DH wasn't in bed next to her - they've never spent a night apart in 15 years etc. Horses for courses I suppose.

It's rare but this week my husband is away for work and I'm looking forward to cooking some of the meals he doesn't like as much, watching my own trashy TV shows, that type of thing. I miss him a lot when he goes away but we used to be long distance so a few days isn't so bad because we literally spent the first 3 months of our marriage apart waiting for a spouse visa to come through.

Yes!! I’m a single parent with 3 DC, every other weekend they go to their dads... the peace, oh the peace Smile Bliss! I tend to hibernate Grin

Pineapplefish · 28/07/2019 14:26

I would love it for a couple of days but a week would be a bit long for me.

Flowersonthewall · 28/07/2019 14:28

My husbands popping round to a friends with the kids for a couple of hours this afternoon and I can't wait! Sofa, brew and probably a nana nap 😁

huuskymam · 28/07/2019 14:32

I'd be happy with a couple of hours in the house on my own.

GhostsToMonsoon · 28/07/2019 14:35

I love the hours between 9am and 3pm in term-time when it's just me and the dog.

NavyBlueHue · 28/07/2019 15:33

I bloody love time alone in the house. In fact I need it to recharge properly. Luckily DH’s job does facilitate it from time to time otherwise we’d have been divorced long ago I think Grin

I do have a friend who’s slightly baffled by my love of alone time as she very much prefers her husband home and hates it when he’s not in bed overnight.

I’m just not the sort to be with anyone 100% of the time. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that Grin

Meeeeeee! I watch YouTube channels that I know he'd pull this face at Hmm, without headphones.
Freedooooooom! Freeeedoooom!

Gone giddy at the thought Grin.

Stravapalava · 28/07/2019 17:09

I bloody love being on my own, I live for it!!!

IdblowJonSnow · 28/07/2019 17:16

I would find it odd if anybody didn't tbh!
Your mate is odd! You're an adult woman!
Enjoy, am well jeal GrinEnvy

bigpawsnopaws · 28/07/2019 17:19

Love it! DH and DS off on a sporting tour for 5 days in August, I can't wait! They go every year and I always book the same week off work! it's usually just me left behind. This year it's me and puppy, which probably means no long lie-ins this year but I'm looking forward to doing what I like for a few days.
Enjoy op

bigpawsnopaws · 28/07/2019 17:20

A mate of mine hates being home alone. When her DH goes away she stays with her mumShock

twilightcafe · 28/07/2019 17:24

NO WAY!

I love having the house to myself. At no one's beck and call, eat what I like, go out when I like. Have the radio on overnight to lull me to sleep.
