And I have 5 pictures off the wall, one smashed, two ripped canvasses, one broken vase, one broken stair, curtains off the rail, one broken door lock, two lost remote controls, no chargers to be seen anywhere, 5 excess rubbish bags of recycling, at least 10 broken plants, one pissed off neighbour and I haven’t even looked in the bedrooms yet.

Or dogs! If they’re a pack of Great Danes or Newfoundlanders then all is forgiven.

StressyDressyHeels · 24/07/2019 15:09

What were they doing?

buckeejit · 24/07/2019 15:10

I'd be sending them a bill. Did they gather all the broken stuff in one place? If not, even worse

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 24/07/2019 15:14

Were there adults....?

Ok, to explain a bit
I have an old house, the stair was a little bit wobbly, but all the thundering up the stairs has broken it properly.
they kept opening windows in the bedrooms and one canvas blew off(stormy)
One picture was on the stairs and little girl was holding on to the banister and the wall, that one broke, she was v apologetic.
The others in the hall just happened last night, I have no idea, could’ve been cos all the doors and windows were open. The curtains are fixable, it’s just a couple hooks/rail
The plants are in the garden, and caused by the endless football, rugby, tennis, basketball games.
The recycling is the beer, wine, juice, fizzy drinks, takeaways, bbqs consumed by 12-15 people for 6 days. 5 guests, but my extended family joined us most days.

Was it "just" the noise that's pissed your neighbours off, or did your guests accidentally knock a wall down and you're now neighbours/housemates?

FlamedToACrisp · 24/07/2019 15:19

Definitely time to name and shame them with a 'jokey' photo spread on Facebook!

lilliepixie · 24/07/2019 15:19

Kids 10-16
And neighbour is pissed off because we delivered a parcel at 10pm( because it started to rain and I couldn’t lift it inside)

GlamGiraffe · 24/07/2019 15:19

Do they actually realise the impact they've had. Did they apologise for all the things, offer to replace etc?

Are they on mumsnet? You should suggest they join...They might get the idea then!

MrMeSeeks · 24/07/2019 15:23

Wtf??? I’d be billing them!! That’s not normal!!

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/07/2019 15:25

I'm imagining that one of your relatives is the Incredible Hulk, who attempted to straighten a couple of pictures - with hilarious consequences.

Pipandmum · 24/07/2019 15:26

If your neighbours are pissed off it’s alot more than you are admitting. I’ve had family of five and a destructive dog (so three boisterous dogs total) and not a plant, plate, or picture destroyed. Last time we had anything near that damage (and about half of what you list) was when my 16 year old step son had an unauthorised party while we were away and it got out of control.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 24/07/2019 15:29

I would be absolutely livid at that amount of damage.

It's utterly unacceptable.

Orangecake123 · 24/07/2019 15:30

OP they're taking the piss. There's no excuse to have NO respect for your stuff.

Orangecake123 · 24/07/2019 15:31

How it should have come out:

*there's no excuse to have NO respect for your stuff!

StCharlotte · 24/07/2019 15:31

I wanted it to be cats.

Pinkyyy · 24/07/2019 15:34

So you've had a week long BBQ?

Pinkyyy · 24/07/2019 15:34

This drip feed is annoying

ineedaholidaynow · 24/07/2019 15:35

Did they apologise at all, apart from the little girl?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/07/2019 15:50

I’d be asking them to chip in for a professional clean.

lazymum99 · 24/07/2019 15:58

if the youngest is 10 then no need to hold onto wall and bannister. So picture should not have been broken. I hate it when anyone holds onto the wall on stairs - finger marks.
Sounds like a 6 day nightmare to me.

QOD · 24/07/2019 16:03

Can I come next time ?

ginghamtablecloths · 24/07/2019 16:15

I hope you are assertive enough to refuse any further requests to stay. lilliepixie - they sound like a nightmare. One broken item may be understandable but all that - no way.

separatebeds · 24/07/2019 16:15

Poor you. This is exactly why I hate having people it the house....
