Please can you measure your Birkenstock's

It is a sad day, but I think I finally have to retire my trusty Birkenstock's. They have served me well for the last 7 years, but the cork has split, I've nearly walked through the foam and frankly they're becoming a health-hazard Blush

The trouble is the sizing has rubbed off and I can't remember whether they are a 38 or 39. I've tried both sizes on on the shop, but neither feel 'right' because they are stiff and new. I'm not near anywhere that stocks them so I haven't had the chance to match them up against a new pair.

They measure about 27cm from centre heel to big toe along the sole. Can anyone help me figure out what size they used to be?

They have '60 2Y' embossed on the insole, but I don't know if that helps with sizing

Well. That's an odd request. Will you be selling the old ones on eBay? asking for a friend

SudowoodoVoodoo · 11/07/2019 14:07

Mine are a size 2/ 34 so yours are plainly bigger. Grin

I doubt that nugget of information was any use though.

ThrowThoseCurtainsWide · 11/07/2019 14:09

animals no plans to sell I'm afraid. Will probably go at them with some spray bleach and keep them for the garden and probably keep wearing them anyway because they are so comfy

I ordered from Birkenstocks website yesterday. I ordered a size 5 because I am a size 5.

AnimalsAreMyOnlyFriends · 11/07/2019 14:24

My friend is sad about that...

serenadoundy · 11/07/2019 14:27

There is a massive market for skanky old shoes on eBay to be fair...

DerbyRacer · 11/07/2019 14:28

Mine are a 38 and 26 cm.

ExpletiveDelighted · 11/07/2019 14:29

I am a 39 normally but wear that style in a 38 if it helps.

DerbyRacer · 11/07/2019 14:30

I should have said, mine are not the same style. I am usually a 38.

Shushandpat · 11/07/2019 14:37

Mine also 38 and 26cm (unsurprisingly)

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/07/2019 15:47

I am a 40 ...size 7 in every shoe known to man

Except my birkinstocks which are 39 Grin

I would measure them hut I don’t trust myself with a tape measure

Happy to check if you want

DappledThings · 11/07/2019 15:52

Size 39 and 27cm. I'm a size 6 in old money. Bought some cheap converse type trainers this week which were a 40 and also a 6 apparently. They measure 28cm

DappledThings · 11/07/2019 15:54

They also say 250 but I have no idea what that means!

I bought some Birkenstocks last year, after a gap of several years, and used this guide. I am a bog standard size 38, and it showed I should order a 38. I did, and they are very comfy!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/07/2019 16:31

I am always a size 40 except in Birkenstocks where I am a size 39

notapizzaeater · 11/07/2019 16:31

You can send them back to Birkenstock's and have them refurbished

ThrowThoseCurtainsWide · 11/07/2019 21:28

notapizzaeater will they still be as comfy though?

Thanks everyone who has measured. I'm a 5 1/2 but my feet are skinny. By the sounds of it they might have been a 39 then. I'm going to have to take them with me to a shop aren't I? I don't want to get the wrong ones!

I bought my Birkenstock's in a 39 but wish that if sized down as they look massive and are a trip hazard.

Sgtmajormummy · 11/07/2019 21:40

I’ll throw this into the mix: Birkenstock shoes are available in normal AND narrow fit, so yes, I think you’ll have to go to a real shop. Grin
But make sure your foot is well within the “rim” by sizing up if necessary.

TrainWWYD · 11/07/2019 21:42

Mate Grin

They look like they’ve been trying to run away from your feet for years Wink

CaledonianSleeper · 11/07/2019 21:46

Holy Christ. You like to get your money’s worth then..?? Grin

mrsmoppp · 11/07/2019 21:47

I've kept the box of my last pair for this reason as it has a measure on the inside.

ThrowThoseCurtainsWide · 11/07/2019 21:49

See this is the thing, I think I would have gone for a 38, based on going down a size. But then there does seem to be space around my feet in these. But they've also curled up lots. They could well have been the narrow! I have them on the tightest buckle setting.

They really have been trying to run away for years! I have a feeling I didn't replace them last year because I couldn't work out what size they were so I gave up Grin

The more I examine them, the more I notice their ahem aroma Blush

My favourite pair of birkies are just a year old

But i just bought a new pair....i might buy some more

I love the pattern and the pattern won’t be around for ever!!

mrsmoppp · 11/07/2019 21:53

I've tried posting the box with the sizes on twice but it's not working for some reason
