Please can you measure your Birkenstock's

It is a sad day, but I think I finally have to retire my trusty Birkenstock's. They have served me well for the last 7 years, but the cork has split, I've nearly walked through the foam and frankly they're becoming a health-hazard Blush

The trouble is the sizing has rubbed off and I can't remember whether they are a 38 or 39. I've tried both sizes on on the shop, but neither feel 'right' because they are stiff and new. I'm not near anywhere that stocks them so I haven't had the chance to match them up against a new pair.

They measure about 27cm from centre heel to big toe along the sole. Can anyone help me figure out what size they used to be?

They have '60 2Y' embossed on the insole, but I don't know if that helps with sizing

I bought new ones this week, I'm a 5.5 or 6 uk depending on style. My birkis are 39 EU. The length is 26.5cm.

My Birkenstock’s are size 38, the number underneath the 38 is 245. I would think you have the size 39’s.

The 245 and 250 etc are the shoe lengths in mm. Japanese shoes are measured in metric instead of some arbitrary number like outs.

I'm a 5/5.5 with skinny feet and I buy a 37 in Birks, which is equivalent to a size 4. They would be huge if I didn't.

Sorry, that was really rubbish. You can now get Birkenstock footbed liners, in different styles as well.

Flowers that just throws everything right out!

I have realised that I'm in London today and going right past the Birk shop in Covent Garden. I'm going to go in, hand them mine and say 'same again please' Grin

My 39's are 26.5.

I've got Birkenstock Madrids and sized down a whole size (from a 4 to a 3). I'm a size 4 in every other shop / brand ever! However I used to wear Birkenstock Relax (from TK Maxx) which were true to size 🤷‍♀️

ThrowThoseCurtainsWide I pity the sales assistant that gets handed those! Hope she/he has antibac handy Grin

I love the look of my birkenstocks but they give me blisters on the soles of my feet 🙁. Missing the point of the thread entirely but is there any way of avoiding this?

TheVanguardSix · 13/07/2019 08:16

Birkenstocks are true to size for me every time.
OP, they're always stiff when you first by them. You have to give them time to mold to your foot. That's the point of them. Once they 'fit', they are the best! I live in Birkenstocks. If you have to size down, you may need a narrow fit rather than sizing down.
While I'm plugging Birkenstocks: Betula flip-flops. Best flip-flops ever. They're just basic EVA flip-flops but they are brilliant. They've lasted me years.

So I went... turns out they are a 38 Grin I was measuring the foam and that has evidently spread a bit over the years. I matched mine up to a few pairs to check. I did show mine to the sales assistant, but she didn't seem to actually want to hold them herself!!!

Thanks for all of your help ladies. Now comes the task of wearing them in...
