Is it safe to have the changing bag like this?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Obviously a first time mum.. changing bag doesn't fit under the pram so need to hook it over the handle. Is it ok for the strap to be over the top of the baby?

That should be fine or you could loop it over the handle-put it on as normal and push it down in the middle-then loop it over the handle
Or just pop it under the buggy xxx

ElizaPancakes · 06/07/2019 18:57

@Rainbowknickers she literally says in the OP it doesn't fit underneath!

OP it's absolutely fine. By the time your baby is a bit more wriggly and sitting up, you can get a hook to hang over the bar. I'd advise one like a rock climbing carabiner, just because they're a bit more robust than the plastic ones they sell in Mothercare.

We had similar to this.

So sorry!i just didn’t read the bit about no space underneath-no offence meant

eurochick · 06/07/2019 19:42

It's fine. For winter there are covers that go over the carrycot so I can't see why a strap would be an issue.

SummerHouse · 06/07/2019 19:44

Totally fine you lovely, sweet first time mum. Your things are so nice and clean and expensive looking!!

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 06/07/2019 19:45

It’s fine. But when you change to the seat unit it won’t work anymore. We had these www.amazon.co.uk/Laleni-Strollers-Accessories-Hands-Free-Universal/dp/B06XSJBYYC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?psc=1&s=gateway&keywords=velcro+pram+hooks&sprefix=velcro+pram+&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1562438659&sr=8-1-spons
Which were really useful.

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 06/07/2019 19:46

That is a ginormous changing bag! I could go away for a month with that! It will be fine OP.

Chloe9 · 06/07/2019 19:49

Yeah it's fine

Love my buggy clip though wouldn't be without it

shartsi · 06/07/2019 19:50

Not helpful but for DC3 I used a Tesco bag for life as his changing bag Grin

JeanMichelBisquiat · 06/07/2019 20:00

It's fine like that, OP, but I think it may not work once you're using a seat, and it also may get on your wick in that position. To be honest, I'd maybe look for a smaller changing bag - that one's humongous Grin. I didn't find I needed a specialist bag when mine were little - just used fairly big handbags.

GookledyGobb · 06/07/2019 20:04

What’s in the bag? Your newborn won’t move for an age and therefore it’s fine. Just be careful at a later point that the weight of your bag doesn’t tip the pushchair up

MadeinBelfast · 06/07/2019 20:13

It looks a bit like the wheels might rub against the bag when you are moving. Can you shorten the strap? If you drive I'd be tempted to keep this as your 'car changing bag' and get a smaller one for the pram. Good luck, first babies are so exciting!

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 06/07/2019 20:18

It a Cossato one like ours so the handle moves up and down? If so just hang it on the handle like I do; it's not in the way at all then. Also if baby is proper tiny having that bar over the top is a complete pain in the arse. The bar is also a pain in the arse when they're in the seat bit too. IME anyhow. It just flaps back down when trying to get them out and can trap tiny fingers.

Nobhobs · 06/07/2019 20:21

Thanks all. The bag is stuffed to the brim as it's ready and waiting as mine/babies hospital bag. It's not going to be this full all the time!

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/07/2019 20:24

When i had a Cosatto Giggle i had the handle on an angle, i think yours is a Giggle Mix does the handle bend? If so if you angle it you bag will stay on there

JeanMichelBisquiat · 06/07/2019 20:36

How exciting, OP - in that case, you're doing well; my hospital bag was ridiculously large! Very best of luck Flowers

foreverhanging · 06/07/2019 20:54

Oooh it's oh so lovely and clean

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 06/07/2019 21:22

Sorry to sound really thick but how to the buggy clips work?

I just thought you hung your shopping bag from them?

I have a buggy clip but don't use it. And I have the same problem as the OP.

I think I need it spelt out to me 😳

RebootYourEngine · 06/07/2019 21:38

Surely it would fit better if the straps were tighter Confused

EarringsandLipstick · 06/07/2019 21:46

I think when you push the pram it's going to be awkward? Bag will bang up against you / wheels? There's no safety concerns, but like pp said, shorten strap & it should hang better across top of pram

Spudlet · 06/07/2019 21:50

It will be fine from a baby safety perspective, although it might drive you bonkers if you keep kicking it!

I bought a gigantic changing bag before DS was born, but the one I actually used was the freebie I got from the Boots baby club. It was a bit smaller, it had a travel mat in it and I didn’t feel in the least bit worried about it getting grubby or anything. Then later I used a rucksack. You’ll work out what works for you as you go along, just like we all have to - but that will be quite safe for your baby while you do 😊
