Favourite cut of diamond

Just that really, trying to decide on a ring to be made and I never, ever wear jewellery but will be wearing this.

Whats your favourite shape diamond?

I thought I loved oval but I'm edging towards pear, seems to sparkle more for some reason

I like the princess cut, the square ones. They're much easier to make into jewellery where the stone is set into the band rather than sitting on top, if you see what I mean. That way we who do not wear jewellery so often don't have to worry about the stone snagging on everything! My engagement ring is a princess cut diamond with two princess cut sapphires and I love it!

I have an emerald cut diamond on my engagement ring. Love it.

If you want sparkle I'd go brilliant cut

Mine is radiant and I love it. It's oblong so really flattering shape but has the radiance and sparkle of a brilliant rather than the straight lines of emerald or princess cut.

Princess. Sparkly, clean lines and as PP said looks great set into a band for ease of wear.

I love Asscher and Baguette, but couldn’t afford one at the time. Mine’s a radiant cut that I have recently re-designed and I love it. (Needs a clean though!)

All diamonds can sparkle nicely if they are well cut - so pick your shape, then find a perfectly cut version of it!

I'm with you on asscher-cut, @justilou1 - my ring is just over a carat asscher diamond on a platinum band, and I love it. My wedding ring is a full circle of smaller asschers channel-set in platinum.

It's one of the more unusual cuts so if you want a solitaire that's a little different it might be worth considering.

Baguette or brilliant cut

Round brilliant wins hands down for sparkle and fire, however I also love a well proportioned emerald cut.
Do try different cuts on your hand, you might be surprised by what suits you. I thought I wanted a halo, but preferred a solitaire on me.

It is difficult to cut an oval without getting a “bow tie”.
I recommend visiting the Pricescope forum for knowledge and inspiration.

My engagement ring is princess, but I think my favourite cut is cushion, it really brings out the sparkle of the stone.

I've got a pear shaped halo engagement ring. I love it, the shape elongates my finger and I like that it's more unusual - I don't really know of anyone else with a similar ring.

It also looks larger than the equivalent round brilliant cut would be so I think you get more for your money.

My setting's really comfortable as well. I think an elevated setting that you get more commonly with princess or round brilliant could get caught in clothes, hair etc.

I tried on emerald cuts but personally didn't like the straight lines of light as much.

My engagement ring is emerald cut. I adore it - I love the clean lines, it's so elegant, and I really like that it is vaguely art deco. It's also more sparkly than I expected, but it's definitely true that other cuts sparkle more. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Round brilliant cuts sparkle the most.
Every cut has it's own beauty, though.
