Just that really, trying to decide on a ring to be made and I never, ever wear jewellery but will be wearing this.

Whats your favourite shape diamond?

I thought I loved oval but I'm edging towards pear, seems to sparkle more for some reason

That’s exactly like mine (with a bigger centre stone) - looks stunning. I still can’t take my eyes off it after nearly a year!

Congratulations on your lovely ring 💍

I need pictures people! I like all diamonds but have always done for round brilliant cut. I would love an old cushion cut though.

I think the setting is almost more important than the diamond. These are my 'stand in' wedding and engagement rings in platinum, while my others are being remodelled.

@Soola I nearly passed out with joy seeing your rings!

That's a gorgeous ring op! Will you need to put a band with it? If so what will you go for?

Pinterest is excellent for ideas.

I like the Marquise then Oval cut.

CarolDanvers · 04/07/2019 08:02

Cushion cut.

YoungEurope · 04/07/2019 08:12

Antique rose cut is my favourite.
My Grandmother's engagement ring was a solitaire with that cut, just under a carat. Its teeny though, I can't even get it on my little finger (fat fingers!)

Mother87 · 04/07/2019 08:17

I have a marquise - beautiful/sparkly/unusual...

Chillichutney1 · 04/07/2019 08:27

My ring is cushion cut and I love it, it looks very elegant. Also really like rose cut as it’s unusual but downside is it’s not very sparkly

Stravapalava · 04/07/2019 09:25

I like Asscher. My e-ring is an oval, set sideways. I always get compliments on it.

JoJoSM2 · 04/07/2019 10:12

It will look nice and big on your finger Grin

DinosApple · 04/07/2019 10:42

Old European cut is my favourite, the facets are larger than a brilliant cut, so a brilliant sparkles more, but the old European has bigger sparkles.

Anyway, my engagement ring is a cushion cut and I love that too.

EugenesAxe · 04/07/2019 11:33

I had not heard of Asscher cut but that’s beautiful. I have a brilliant cut; it is certainly very sparkly.

OP, your choice is a very lovely ring, but have a think about wearing a pave band every day and whether that will be comfortable and hard wearing.

Jupiter13 · 04/07/2019 19:10

Just bought a beautiful 🥕 one for the girlfriend..😃

stillworkingitout · 04/07/2019 19:38

I think you can’t go wrong with a round brilliant tbh. Lovely classic cut with fire and sparkle. Can be set in lots of different ways

DickZillaofTheVilla · 04/07/2019 19:43

Round brilliant

brightbluesky · 04/07/2019 20:24

My ring is little round diamonds set in three squares. It does sparkle a lot, I love it, however one day I would really love an emerald cut solitaire. I just love the Art Deco style.

I love the halo rings. That’s what I’d have if I was in the market for one now.

evilharpy · 06/07/2019 08:51

I'd love an old European cut. They are gorgeous.

I have a very good quality, well cut oval. No bow tie . When we got engaged I was adamant I wanted a small stone so mine is only .33ct but we got a really decent stone. Years later I do wish I'd gone for something a bit bigger though!

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 06/07/2019 17:35

Round brilliant have the most sparkle because of the facets and the way they are cut. Emerald/baguettes have slightly less sparkle because they have less facets, having said that they are still 2 of my favourite cuts as I think they look so elegant and timeless

happymummy12345 · 06/07/2019 17:38

The round brilliant cut is my favourite by far. I love that it has a traditional feel and look.
