Mum says claw machine is rigged after spending £100 for just one toy

There is a article in our local paper website about a 34 year old Mum who spent £100 on trying to win a cuddly toy for her 5 month old ds from a claw machine at an amusement arcade on a holiday resort somewhere in Sussex. She initially spent £40 then complained to a member of staff, who changed the setting of the machine. She then won the toy with her next go. The member of staff then changed the setting once more, but said Mum wanted a 2nd toy for her ds, so proceeded to spend another £60.

I would link the article but our local paper website is full of spam and slows your computer down so i'll spare you that.

But why? Why would this woman go to such effort for a 5 month old, who probably isn't old enough to really care anyway? And surely you could just find said toy on ebay for £5 anyway? Grin

Hahaha that's the dumbest thing I have read all day.

daisyboocantoo · 02/07/2019 12:40

A fool and their money are easily parted

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/07/2019 12:41

I'm not convinced those toys are made properly either, wouldn't be giving them to a young child!

Reindeerssmellbetter · 02/07/2019 12:42

I saw that on FB last night. My mind boggles trying to work out her way of thinking.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 02/07/2019 12:42

That is really stupid.

Stillstrawberrywater · 02/07/2019 12:53

What was her thinking of spending another £60 after seeing the member of staff reset the settings? Grin surely she must have had an compensation/run to the local paper mindset to have done that? and yes i agree, I don't think the toys in those machine of are of good quality either.

I love how unbothered the baby looks. Surely this can’t be true!

Newmumma83 · 02/07/2019 13:06

Of course the machines are rigged! I saw that story!

It’s pure luck as to how many people have been there before you.

I won a dumbo with £1 this year on holiday! Anything more than £3 I quit ( it’s a holiday only thing ) as may as well go buy one 😂😂

Instagran · 02/07/2019 13:08
  1. She obviously has more money than sense.
  2. Why would you go to the papers and advertise your stupidity?
Stillstrawberrywater · 02/07/2019 13:08

Oooh my local paper didn't have her pic in the article. Good attempt at a compo face Grin

I spent about £5 trying to win a Yoshi toy for my son once. Gave up, and ordered one off amazon. That's the way to do it!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 02/07/2019 13:09

It’s flipping betting! Of course the house wins! Silly woman.

"No shit, Sherlock" is the response that springs to my mind.

RebootYourEngine · 02/07/2019 13:20

There is another thread on this.

I agree with everyone. How thick do you need to be to not know that these things are rigged.

MsMustDoBetter · 02/07/2019 13:22

She's an idiot, I can't believe that this made the papers!

Stupid Woman Wastes her Money at Arcade!

It's hardly big news is it?
