Can you help me with a pregnancy announcement caption?

Okay, so, I know some people aren't for announcing on social media but I'm definitely one of the people who loves a good pregnant announcement!

I did the big massive paragraph and soppy speeches when announcing DC1.
People are going to be quite gossipy this time (I presume, which I'm not bothered about), and I'd rather leave it with a nice picture with a really short and sweet caption for baby #2, but not as simple as 'due __' etc. Maybe something a bit humourous that really subtly incorporates how unexpected this one is?

Something along the lines of...
"This year is unbelievably full of blessings'
or even something like
'Best oops ever'.

Or would a picture be better to keep it short?

I know I'm making a big deal about it but it's definitely one of my favourite parts of the pregnancy. With DC1 I'd announced by 12 weeks and I'm already 14 this time.

Guessing that it's going to be a very small age gap, how about getting a babygrow printed with '(not very) big sister' and just post a photo of the three of you

yellowboka · 02/07/2019 11:38

@CMOTDibbler not so much. DC1 is going to be very almost 3. It's just a quite new and unpublic relationship!

I think it's a bit weird and oversharey to include that a pregnancy was unplanned in an announcement, sorry. If you choose to tell close friends that or people guess from the small gap, fine, but I think it's TMI for social media.

I would just simply put 'happy to announce DP/DH & I are expecting'
(with pic if you want!)

I don't have any children yet but I would probably just say that and not make too much of a fuss (as most people don't actually care!)Wink

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 02/07/2019 11:44

If it’s quite a new and unpublic relationship I certainly would not include the unplanned pregnancy bit, just makes it look like you can’t shag responsibly and it’s not relevant anyway as your keeping the baby.

Short and sweet is best just say..... Me and X are very happy to announce we are expecting a baby. Add a scan pic of you wish

Or a photo of your dc holding the scan and say look who’s going to be a big sister/brother

yellowboka · 02/07/2019 11:47

Thanks everyone. The 'oops' one was just one I'd saw on Pinterest but will scrap that Grin

Christ don’t call your baby an ‘oops’ even if it wasn’t planned. If this is going to cause gossip why are you doing it? Just concentrate on your child and pregnancy and don’t bring drama to your own life. The harsh truth is no one cares as much as you do about your pregnancy. Just enjoy it without needing to blab all over SM.

Nixen · 02/07/2019 11:49

Ugh please don’t do the ‘oops’ thing, so tacky😬 If you must, just say ‘DP and I are expecting’ But I don’t see why you have to!

CmdrCressidaDuck · 02/07/2019 11:56

If your partner is new and people don't know about him I would keep it simple as PP suggested and go with "(name) and I are happy to announce we're expecting, due (month)". Otherwise it's going to come off a bit "haha, I got knocked up by a bloke I hardly know, whoops lol!"

Cocobeanstalk · 02/07/2019 11:57

Op why not just don’t post anything

Pogmella · 02/07/2019 11:58

Why not announce your relationship first and the pregnancy at 20 weeks or so

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 02/07/2019 12:00

Why on earth do you want to let people know your baby is unplanned? Confused why not just announce you are pregnant? It sounds like you want to attract the gossip about the circumstances tbh.

HUZZAH212 · 02/07/2019 12:01

Pp has it right. Announce the relationship first.

Soola · 02/07/2019 12:07

“I’m up the duff”

“There’s a pudding in the oven”

'The best things is life are unexpected'

'We are adding a little more love to the family'

'time to upgrade to a 4 door car emoji'

'As much as you want to plan your life, it has a way of surprising you with unexpected things that will make you happier than you ever though'

'A woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy is also experiencing unplanned joy'

'Yes I'm pregnant again...yes we know what causes it.. Obviously we are very good at it..'

Soola · 02/07/2019 12:09

“Baby onboard”

Huntlybyelection · 02/07/2019 12:10

For DC2 I posted a photo at 20 weeks of me with a bump captioned "not fat, pregnant!"

ComtesseDeSpair · 02/07/2019 12:11

I think any way of announcing the pregnancy is just going to be overshadowed by loads of comments from people along the lines of “OMG, didn’t know you were seeing anybody / so who’s the dad?? / wow, that was quick! / OMG, babe DM me with the goss!” Which, even if you say you don’t mind gossip, do you really want those responses on social media for all to see and associate with your new baby?

yellowboka · 02/07/2019 12:11

Relationship is announced!

I see loads of pregnancy announcement, always love them and happy for people, friends do them all, I'm quite young so social media is widely used etc, I don't see why not!

And at my age and circumstances, everyone will assume the baby is unplanned anyway (although who cares, it's not a bad thing!!!) but I'd already scrapped that idea!

OP posts:
InsertFunnyUsername · 02/07/2019 12:11

Do you actually want to announce or feel like you have to? Because obviously you dont have to, especially with a newish relationship, people are judgey and you don't want it to ruin your pregnancy stressing what other people think.

Maybe "Best suprise yet" or " xxxx's little sibling" see, told you i wasn't any good, 😂

ComtesseDeSpair · 02/07/2019 12:13

I mean, if you have enough “friends” on FB for it to be something you need to announce this way (rather than to your nearest and dearest by personal WhatsApp or whatever) you’re going to have enough people who don’t care much about the pregnancy/baby and will just comment about how it came to be.

Tippexy · 02/07/2019 12:13

Why ‘announce’ it at all? It’s utterly bizarre and narcissistic. People won’t care. The ones who do need to know already know as you see them and speak to them ‘in real life,’ surely?

I think you’re quite looking forward to being gossiped about!

yellowboka · 02/07/2019 12:23

Woah, there's not one person I know who hasn't done a pregnancy announcement, it's lovely to see people so proud and excited with their news, and I never once look at the one a month (on average) I see and think 'I don't care' or anything along the lines!!!!!!! Confused

OP posts:
Thursday452poh · 02/07/2019 12:30

I wouldn’t go for the “best opps ever” as lots of people TTC for a very long time so it might not make those people in your Facebook circle feel great about their situation.
Why not one of those “upgraded to big brother T-shirts” on you dc photos.

Some people like big announcements lots of my friends do, personally not my cup of tea but that’s no criticism as I am a v private person on social media.
