What's your Come Dine With Me menu?

Tootytata · 01/07/2019 21:46

I'm on maternity leave so I'm watching far too many episodes of Homes Under The Hammer and Come Dine With Me at the moment Blush

I think my CDWM menu would be:
Starter - Portobello mushrooms stuffed with garlic, cheese and breadcrumbs
Main - individual creamy chicken, bacon & leak pot pies with posh vegetables
Dessert - warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream (both homemade)

I'm also trying to lose some weight so dreaming about food right now!

What's your CDWM menu look like?

Sod my menu I’m coming to yours! Grin

BobTheFishermansWife · 01/07/2019 21:53

Oh that sounds like heaven, can I please come over for dinner???

This is what I made when my friends and I did our own come dine with me last year.

Starter - button mushrooms is a creamy garlic sauce
Main - pork steaks with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli in a peppercorn sause
Dessert - chocolate bomb cakes with vanilla ice cream

I think I'll be making chocolate bomb cakes tomorrow...

Tootytata · 01/07/2019 21:56

Ha ha! Of course, you can both come around for dinner Grin

Wow...Bob - love your menu! I love mushrooms so any starters with mushrooms is a winner for me.

Would you have a themed night and make everyone dress up?! Or just dinner party attire (whatever this is)?!

Oooh,DH and I often have this conversation! Mine changes all the time but right now it would be:
Starter: Cajun prawns with crusty homemade garlic bread
Main: pork belly, roast potatoes, sausage meat stuffing, token veggies
Pudding: Chocolate fondants, proper vanilla ice cream
Heaven!!

cantfindname · 01/07/2019 21:58

Haha, this is the game I play when I can't get to sleep!

Starter: Mini asparagus quiche (no pastry, so a little bit like a frittata) with salad.
Main: Chicken pie (sorry) with baby potatoes, mange tout, chantenay carrots and mini corn on cob
Dessert: A crowd pleaser like profiteroles or a carefully executed pavlova.

TooMinty · 01/07/2019 22:02

Starter - peach, mozzarella and Parma ham salad
Main - miso marinated salmon with pak choi, shiitake mushrooms and rice
Pudding - lemon cheesecake
Biscuits and cheese

Atalune · 01/07/2019 22:03

I like your menu- delicious but a wee bit heavy maybe? That could be my feedback?! Ha ha!

I would do-

Chilli crab salad with a lime dressing with avocado
Fillet of beef with potato dauphinois and green beans
Chocolate torte with pouring cream
Cheese board

Fizz to start with a splash of calvados, then red wine, then port for the cheese

We could play wink murder.

TooMinty · 01/07/2019 22:04

Lots of good wine and fancy cocktails to put guests in a good mood and bump my score up!

Tootytata · 01/07/2019 22:04

Omg...profiteroles, lemon cheesecake, chocolate fondant! I have a sweet tooth...maybe they could be my starter, main and dessert! Smile

Starter: either artichoke and blue cheese dip in a scooped out crusty roll, or asparagus wrapped in cheese and Parma ham

Main: chicken, soft cheese, pineapple, bacon, mozzarella and jerk bbq sauce, with baked potatoes with the middles scooped out and mixed with cheese, butter and marmite, and buttered leeks

Dessert: cheese board, or gin and tonic cheesecake

Reading that back there is definitely a cheese theme going on

Soola · 01/07/2019 22:06

My mother would want to see my tv appearance so I would like to pay a bit of a homage to her home country of Malaysia as a nice surprise for her.

Starter

Spicy noodles with Tofu. Similar to this - www.heartofavagabond.com/malaysian-spiced-noodles-with-tofu/

Main course -

kelliesfoodtoglow.com/2015/07/20/malaysian-paneer-and-vegetable-kebab-bowl-with-brown-coconut-rice/

Dessert
Banana Fritters ( Pisang Goreng ) with my addition of milk chocolate sauce.

All very easy dishes to prepare and taste great so that I wouldn’t make a fool of myself!

Tootytata · 01/07/2019 22:06

Atalune - thanks for the feedback! Ha ha! Love your menu! Hmm...chocolate torte...I'm in heaven!

What's wink murder?!

Soola - I love noodles! The spicy noodles with tofu is making my mouth water! Blush

@tootytata I use the bbc good food brownie recipe rather than make chocolate cakes:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1223/bestever-brownies
put a couple of lindor chocolate balls in the middle, bake them in deep ramekin pots for 5 minutes longer than the recipe states. Served hot, they just kind of fall in on themselves when you cut into them.

And yes we played dress up 😂 my night was 20s, we also had fairies, 80s and because we went out after a nightclub attire theme 🙄

dustarr73 · 01/07/2019 22:08

Starter- Chicken Liver Pate with crusty bread
Main-Medium rare steak, with chunky chips, salad and peppercorn sauce
Dessert-Key lime pie

Tootytata · 01/07/2019 22:11

Bobthefishermanswife - I'm definitely going to steal your recipe and make those! Can't go wrong with Lindt balls in a chocolate brownie mix! Omg...I'm in heaven Cake

This is what I made when we played this with our friends

Mashed avocado with chilli oil on a homemade poppy crostini with antipasti

Aubergine Parmigiana (vegan style) with herby wedges

Churros with dark choc dipping sauce and maple syrup sugar.

Kanga83 · 01/07/2019 22:16

Soola your meal is my idea of heaven!

Tarchie · 01/07/2019 22:19

Can I play? I love this game!
Starter: prawns and smoked salmon posh cocktail
Main: Steak and ale pies, cheesy mash, carrots and broccoli
Dessert: Lime and mascarpone tart......yummy!

I asked DH what he’d have and he promptly reeled off his 3 courses. When I asked if he would do the cooking, he smiled sweetly and said “Will you help me?” Coming from the man whose idea of cooking is a bowl of cereal and toast, I think some help wouldn’t go amiss. Please keep the ideas coming, they all sound delicious.

BobTheFishermansWife · 01/07/2019 22:19

Starter- goats cheese and caramelised onion tart with salad

Main- chicken bacon and white wine risotto with some homemade bread on the table

Dessert- chocolate fondants with homemade ice cream

Tarchie · 01/07/2019 22:23

I’m starting to think that my very simple chicken and salad for dinner tonight is not up to the culinary standards being demonstrated here this evening!! I won’t have an inferiority complex , I won’t have an inferiority complex!
