Is anyone up for a ‘be more organised/sort your life out’ style thread?

I feel like the last three years have been so busy and hectic that I haven’t been keeping it together. Had DS, DP had breakdown, I had an awful year of depression and still suffer with anxiety now, quit job, new job, DP still unwell, dad died and on and on.

I’m overweight, always undergroomed, badly organised financially and my life is running away with me. I’m largely positive by nature but do love a good list!

I want to lose weight, get fit, be in a better position financially. I’m going to break my days down into food, exercise, money, house and something nice, so...

Food - bad day, all the carbs and all the chocolate.

Exercise - 8 hours in the office including commute so nothing and no more than 4K steps either. Did do 30 minutes weeding though. DP at his mums tonight so no chance to go for a walk after DS is in bed.

Money - unexpected outgoings thanks to me forgetting to cancel a subscription to taste card. Got cash for expenses at work, no spend day otherwise apart from postage for some photos that were otherwise free.

House - need to water plants and tidy toys away once DS is asleep.

Something nice - I’m going to watch buffy in silence with fresh orange and tonic water after bedtime!

Does anyone fancy joining in?

I'm always up for these threads!

I'm also on the princessing thread, and the monthly Flylady threads. I am counting down to our holiday in early August and every year at this time I want to blitz the house before the school holidays start.

I have a nice breakfast every morning, that's my treat to set me up for the day. I'm not a natural list maker but I find I do better if I stick to them tbh!

missyB1 · 30/06/2019 19:17

Oh yes me please! I’ve had a manic year, been retraining for a new career, working too many hours and taking exams. Oh and my mum passed away at Easter. I’ve taken my eye of the ball with my health, weight, fitness and I haven’t spent enough time with ds.
Plan for this week:
Join gym (for classes and swimming pool)
No alcohol until Friday night
Walk every day

ClownTent · 30/06/2019 19:45

Yay! People!

I love a nice breakfast Chic what do you have for yours?

I’m sorry to hear about your mum missy I hope you’re being kind to yourself. I’m going to up my walking this week too. I live at the bottom of Mt Snowdown so don’t have much excuse really Blush

Yes I need this! I have a big uni deadline coming up, the house is a tip and my weight loss has massively stalled.

Avocadodance · 30/06/2019 19:51

Yes- everything seems to have gone to pot lately.
I'm going to finally look seriously at changing the direction of my career
I'm going to up the self-care. More water, less snacking. Manicure and pedicure at home. Floss every night. Early nights. Moisturise body after shower.

Massive declutter, tidy and clean of the house.

Maybe I'm attempting too much at once but hopefully some of it will stick.

ClownTent · 30/06/2019 19:54

Yeeeeea to lack of self care. Not only am I overweight, I forget to pluck my eyebrows and I’m olive skinned with dark hair with PCOS so I have a moustache and a beard, but forget to get rid of those since having DS too! I go days without drinking, I’ve run out of foundation, I never moisturise... I’m going to add a ‘Me’ section to my list!

Good morning!

I’ve woken up feeling demotivated already as I’m overdrawn on my overdraft, so today I will...

Food - AIM for a good eating day. No binging, three meals.

Money - today will be a no spend day but I do have approx. £30 cash that I must go and put in the bank to cover the overdrawn overdraft!

House - Mondays are when I semi deep clean (tidy, wipe over all surfaces inc. skirting boards, stairs etc) the living room so I’ll do that. MIL is coming over to babysit for a few hours this evening as DS’ school has a parents info evening so I’ll give everywhere else a once over too.

Exercise - 50 squats and 80 leg lift things in two sets. Aim for over 6k steps.

Something nice - I’ve promised DS an ‘adventure’ and there’s a skate park near the Bank so we might take his toy cars there. Failing that, we’ll walk to the lagoons I think. It’s going to rain so we’ll put our wellies on!

Self care - I’ll make sure to moisturise after my shower in a bit. I’ll put nice clothes on and brush my hair for the parents’ evening later and I’ll paint my toenails before bed I think.

What is everyone having for breakfast today? I’m not working today so I could have egg and beans on toast or porridge. DS will probably ask for porridge.

MindfulMummy · 01/07/2019 10:21

Can l join too please?

Perfect timing for me....

Have been flirting with losing weight and 'sorting my life out' for too long! Know it makes me u happy but struggle to find the motivation to maintain my enthusiasm.... Determined to lose 2.5 stone by Christmas.... Aiming for 1.5 by September if l can....

My main challenges are: motivation on my days off - to do house stuff; sort my PPI claim before it's too late (anyone else?!) and do anything except watching stuff l don' t even want to watch on TV! and self care.... Food comes under this category. Need to up my steps and plan my meals.... Does anyone else meal plan? How successfully?

Feeling positive today as have walked 2ds to school and walked onto town for the first time ever! Returned library books on time (big win!) and now sat in Costa having had only toast to eat - avoided all the yummy cakes - and an almond milk latte. Aiming for 12k steps today.. Oh and have lost the 2lbs l put on last week so have 2 stone 6lbs to lose now!

Great to have accountability partners. What are your aims for this week/year? What are your main struggles? Oh and any ideas on how we can reward ourselves - without food! - when we succeed?

We can do this! 💪😅

ClownTent · 01/07/2019 10:58

missy don’t put yourself down!

Welcome MindfulMummy Grin I used to meal plan and tried to have a four week rotation. I’ve moved back togetting a fruit and veg box now though and you can’t choose what’s included so I find it more difficult to meal plan, plus we haven’t had an oven for a month so that knocks out a lot of my go to meals.

My overall aim this week is to eat healthier than last week, which shouldn’t be hard Blush I ate four mars bars yesterday and that wasn’t all.

So far I’ve tidied the kitchen, made DS and I breakfast, tidied his bedroom, done the living room and showered and moisturised (yay!) I want to get DS out to the lagoons before the hordes descend for the weekend and I’m planning to take the football and his toy animals to prolong the play ha. Aiming to be home by 1/1.30 for lunch via the shop to buy rice for dinner.

Hi everyone, can I join in?

I'm in a very similar position, house is clean but a mess, clothes everywhere, cupboards full of food, but hardly able to make a meal from any of it, drinking every night again, we don't have kids and never will at this rate.

I really feel like a massive (and sweaty) failure, we have the luxury of having a cleaner for 2 hours every 2 weeks, I work 4 days a week, DH shifts.

ClownTent · 01/07/2019 12:20

Join away Defender!! the more the merrier!

DS is pestering for chips and I have £4 ish in my pocket. It would be so easy to give in and get them but... Blush

MindfulMummy · 01/07/2019 12:37

Love this thread already!

Defender, it's all about the changes we make from now, not where we feel we are getting it wrong 💪 What small but significant changes can you make today? None of us can change everything in one go but baby steps are good enough and tend to be more sustainable. 🤗

I have completed 10k steps today for the first time in forever and it really does feel good.... Just need to make sure l don't reward myself with chocolate! Ha!

How is everyone else doing? Any ideas re: rewards? 🤔

Defender90 · 01/07/2019 12:37

Thanks!

I will eat a packed lunch every day, and it will not just be sandwiches.
I will start meal planning again, and I will stick to it. Must do an inventory of cupboards and plan things to use it all up.

No idea how to start tackling the clothes everywhere. I live in the same outfits, maybe I should just bin everything Grin

MindfulMummy · 01/07/2019 12:38

Sounds like you have made a great start today, Clown... Any ideas for food today/this week?

orenisthenewblack · 01/07/2019 12:54

I'm in! I'm a mess.

After two unsuccessful interviews last week, I have decided never to go for another job again. Contacted until Christmas and then I'm going it alone.

To do this I need motivation. Need to loose weight, stop drinking, get fit, stop spending.

Where do I start!

FromSussexWithLove · 01/07/2019 12:55

Can I join too?

I've had a shitty year health wise and spend a large portion of it doped up on gabapentin and in bed whilst trying to hold down FT work, a 4 year old, a house love etc. I've also just started a PT masters degree on top of work.

I feel like I'm coming out of the pain and medical issues but have put on a lot of weight with all of the stress/being in bed and I feel like life is just disappearing into a bit chaotic black hole!

MindfulMummy · 01/07/2019 13:10

Defender, just start somewhere! 😘 Maybe decide which of the problems is causing you the most stress and make an effort with that to begin with? For me it is definitely losing weight and keeping on top of the house which puts me in a more positive place.... Just had a sweet potato burger with griddled asparagus and tender stem broccoli and fresh peas... Was lush! 😍 Have big blisters on my feet from walking in my Birkenstocks though so need to watch the feeling sorry for myself thing before it talks me into eating chocolate!, 🙄

MindfulMummy · 01/07/2019 13:14

Defender, if you have any dairy free veggie friendly lunchbox ideas please post them! I struggle taking lunch to work but know from experience that not taking lunch is the worst thing l can do and l get so bored of the limited sandwich fillings l can have...

ClownTent · 01/07/2019 13:21

MindfulMummy would this recipe suit? I’ve made it both dairy free and with dairy and it’s always been lovely. Could you make mini pies in a cupcake tin and take them in?

Can I join, so unorganized, overweight and in debt!!! 😩

My Aim is Diet/Exercise: 15,000 steps daily, 1500 Cal max and 3.2ltrs of water

Finances: Pay down the ever increasing credit card bill. Hoping that if I'm not spending money doing anything ie days out, takeaway, nights out and just focusing on weight loss will save money that way.

Life/Job: I think losing weight will massively improve my confidence and self esteem so will focus on the weightloss first and hopefully everything else will fall into place. (fingers crossed) at the minute I hate the way I look the clothes I wear etc.. so don't have the confidence to consider a better job.

ClownTent · 01/07/2019 13:46

orenisthenewblack are you a welsh girl by any chance??

By going it alone, do you mean setting up your own business? What do you do?

DS and I are back from the lake, just under 4K steps. Had egg, beans and sweet corn on toast and managed to persuade him to eat it all! So he’s having a lolly that I stashed before... we’ve got a juicer so any time I’ve got fruit or veg going a bit off I juice it and freeze them in lolly moulds so he’s currently having an orange, cucumber and spinach lolly and thinks it’s fab ha.

Meals wise Mindful we are having a curry tonight, then I’m not too sure. We haven’t had an oven for a month so that’s seriously impeding my cooking!! I’ve got potatoes, carrots and onions in, as well as cucumber, spring onions and lettuce. There’s some cauliflower and cabbage in the freezer, so probably something with mash tomorrow and then hopefully I’ll be paid on Wednesday so can go shopping.

Me please! I've already started doing a few things. We moved house last year just before youngest DD was born, and although the house is OK, the cupboards and attic need properly sorted though, and I need to clear out and file paperwork.

I also need to lose at least two stone - so far I've lost 6lb in almost three weeks, which I think is ok

Also need to declutter clothes, sell things on ebay, and stick to meal planning!

DD is finally turning the corner with sleep, so I'm hoping I get the time in the evenings to get all this done!

MindfulMummy · 01/07/2019 14:47

Recipe sounds good, Clown but I can't get the link to work 🤔

Really helps me to know lots of other people feel the same.... It can be so easy to feel that everyone is winning at life and l am the only one struggling to eat well, work, be here for my kids, stay on top of the house etc... Thanks all 🙏
