Do you let DCs play naked in the garden?

DD is 3 and we have the paddling pool out for the nice weather. She has a ‘thing’ about wet clothes so as soon as she’s out of the pool she takes her costume off and won’t put it back on until it’s completely dry - I don’t have a million swimming costumes for her so I’ve been letting her play naked.

DBro has just called in and commented how inappropriate it is as ‘someone might see’. For reference, our garden isn’t overlooked at all, and due to high fences, neighbours on either side can only see into the garden from their upstairs windows.

So, what are your opinions on DC playing naked in the garden?

DS age 6 (just) is currently naked in the garden. In fact he's naked (apart from pants, which we INSIST on) most of the time. No idea why?

Yes mine always did until they didn't want to.

Yes. If you can't play in the garden nude when you're 3 when can you!?

Yes. My 3 sons age 3, 5 & 7 have spent all morning running around naked, in and out of the pool, using water pistols etc.

We aren't overlooked. I sent them out in bathers but they all ended up stripping off anyway.

Absolutely. I have a lovely pic of him starkers aged 4 racing into the water at Cromer. He just ripped everything off and ran in, no stopping him.

Sadly now he's 15 it's a battle to get his T shirt off him.

Yes. I did with my kids all the time at that age. I have the photos to prove it.

Yes. As soon as the sun is out and the paddling pool is filled up they are totally starkers. They are 4 and 5

My 2yo is always naked at home (at least bottom half naked....very lazy potty training) and round my mums, and in both our gardens. Low fences but I know and trust both my next door neighbours and both of hers too, so it isn't a issue. I wouldn't let him be naked in public though like at a beach.

No. For many reasons really, our garden isn't suitable for them to be running around naked anyway, there's no shade it's all open and many houses could see in.

I remember me and my brother playing naked in the garden when we were little (some time ago!) The only thing we wore were trainers in case we stood on something.

There are photos of us in the paddling pool and of us running about next door too. Nobody batted an eyelid.

They have many years ahead of being covered up, I think let little kids be little kids.

On holiday recently in Fuerterventura, our hotel had direct access to a beach. There were many nationalities at the hotel most German and Spanish children were naked until about aged 10. The British children wore uv sun suits.
