This was a very good thread to open before I sit and meal plan tomorrow! Some fab ideas here!

ElfrideSwancourt · 21/06/2019 22:41

I'm on week 4 of my new 4-week rolling meal plan next week. I can't remember what is on it but I know everything needed is coming in the online shop.

It was hearing about other people on mumsnet's 4 week meal plans that gave me the inspiration and so far it is fab!

If anyone complains I will tell them to fuck off and make their own food might reconsider but it massively reduces my mental load.

Constantlurker · 21/06/2019 22:47

@elfrodeswancourt what's the 4 week meal plan? Or is it just what it says, just plan out 4 weeks and repeat repeat repeat? Hmmm that's interesting as meal planning is my least favourite thing to do but if I don't do it we spend so much money on food.

Pollock fish, chorizo and chickpea stew
Pork stir fry (but all elements ie noodles/veg/protein separate as that's how the ds's enjoy a stir fry)
Puttanesca
Homemade burgers & ranch slaw
Greek style roast chicken

We're trying to keep spends low but I refuse to not enjoy food if we're not going out or buying clothes/hair cuts /home items for new house etc I can at least enjoy meals we both work bloody hard . I realise I'm lucky be able to do so.

Mac47 · 21/06/2019 23:03

Quorn chipotle somethings with something
Tofu stir fry twice as lots of tofu
Eggs, prob omelette.
Out twice. May be 3 times.

TheGirlWhoLived · 21/06/2019 23:04

QOD- the youngest will absolutely eat everything on there, she thinks she’s some sort of Sous chef in the kitchen, eldests menu will be:

Chopped peppers, sweet corn, brown rice, wrap cashews x 2 meals

Small pizza with sweet corn, carrot sticks and cucumber (will pick all the cheese off)

Plain pasta, boiled egg (just the white), broccoli, cauliflower and carrots x 2 meals

Fishfingers/chicken dippers with waffles and carrots x 2 meals.

Week in, week out... a rotation of the same two proteins (eggs and nuts) carbs and veg, in alluring and different ways.

Dd2 and I had Thai beef stir fry with lemongrass and coconut sauce for lunch. Luckily dd1 is actually still awesome so we haven’t traded her yet

rosy71 · 21/06/2019 23:10

Probably something like chicken, salad & wraps
Sausages, broccoli, Yorkshire pudding & gravy
Veg stir fry with noodles
Pasta, pesto & bacon
Chicken nuggets & fries

We don't have much time to cook because we both work full time and have lots on in the evenings.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 21/06/2019 23:14

We are having an ‘eat up what’s in the fridge/freezer/cupboards week as the housekeeping account is very low!
Sat - sticky aubergine stir fry and rice
Sun - roast loin of lamb + roast pots and veg
Mon - sea bass fillets and veg
Tues -spinach and potato curry
Wed - baked trout and salad
Thurs - sweet potato and black bean burgers
Fri - breast of lamb and veg

iklboo · 21/06/2019 23:37

Surely only on mums net do children (and I use that term loosely as mine is 20 and wouldn’t eat that) eat mushroom burgers and risotto

I'm convinced DS was born with the (expensive) tastes of a 40 year old epicure. Grin

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 22/06/2019 07:43

No idea which is I fear where I’m going wrong...
Great ideas here though

BadnessInTheFolds · 22/06/2019 07:53

Tomorrow: stirfry of some description
Monday: veggie sausage stew and mash
Tuesday: Penang tofu
Wednesday spicy roasted squash with nuts. Will do a side salad or something
Thursday: pasta with roast pepper sauce.

theneverendinglaundry · 22/06/2019 10:24

Does anyone meal plan for lunches? I find that when I do my weekly shop I always forget lunch things. Then end up popping to the shop loads during the week and spending too much money.

QOD mine wouldn't eat that sort of thing either. My youngest likes to snack in rubbish and my eldest who is 16 has only just tried a mild curry.

Backwoodsgirl · 22/06/2019 14:52

Sat: Venison steak and mash
Sun: Roast chicken
Mon: Veg stew
Tues: Whatever DH catches
Wed: Squirrel stew
Thu: bean salad
Fri: BBQ

Sn0tnose · 22/06/2019 15:11

This is DH’s department but the menu planner on the fridge says:

Sunday - Roast lamb if cool, dinner in the pub garden if hot
Monday - home made pizza
Tuesday - chicken with green pesto & mozzarella
Wednesday - sardines for me, soup for DH
Thursday - red pesto pasta bake with mixed beans & tomatoes
Friday - toad in the hole, mustard mash and shallot & red wine gravy
Saturday - vegan hot & cold buffet (vegan guests coming)

BenWillbondsPants · 22/06/2019 15:20

Crikey, a couple of these menus would be very expensive!

Sunday - homemade veggie pizzas, salad and chilli bread.
Monday - Potato wedges, homemade burgers and salad.
Tuesday - Mac and cheese with chicken and chorizo. Salted and pepper chickpeas on the side.
Wednesday - Sausage, mash and beans.
Thursday - roast veggies with wholemeal pasta
Friday - chilli and jacket spuds
Saturday - fish with anything I still have left in the house.

BenWillbondsPants · 22/06/2019 15:24

Steak filled giant Yorkshire pudding with mash and marrow fat peas

I could hammer that right now.
