My 10 year old has just come to me with his phone...
He's had several missed calls and one he just declined.
I phoned.
It was virgin media!
His sim is in MY name and I pay for it.
Are they breaching some law,here!???
I'm really cross

Would they not just think they were ringing you?

Soubriquet · 20/06/2019 20:09

No...since it’s in your name, they obviously think they are ringing you!

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 20/06/2019 20:10

Nope they think they are contacting you, since it's in your name.

Nicknacky · 20/06/2019 20:13

What law exactly do you think they would be breaking?!

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:14

Why would they think they were ringing me?
Its clear which my number is.

I've no idea...just seems odd a company can contact my 10 year old without my consent.
Ill look into it, thank you

If the phone is in your name they would have been trying to contact you the billpayer.

Nicknacky · 20/06/2019 20:16

So why do you think they would be breaking the law?

Not that it matters but they will have no idea your son has the phone.

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:16

Sorry just realised my post made it seem like it was my phone.
It's a sim only.
I have a contract with them.
Different number

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/06/2019 20:16

Why would they think it’s not you? You’re being weird!

justthecat · 20/06/2019 20:16

No I have a sim for my son in my name, must admit last time he got a cold call and I answered it and questioned why they were ringing my 13 yr old they put straight down, but they’re not to know

NerrSnerr · 20/06/2019 20:16

Is it just an additional number on your contract or do they have any reason to know he's 10 years old?

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:16

The they would use the number on the main account (I.e.mine surely?)

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 20/06/2019 20:17

I will give you a clue. There is no law preventing it.

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:17

Oh I see just
I'll just tell them not to call that number then?

OP posts:
Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:18

Can I request they dont use that number?

OP posts:
Aquamarine1029 · 20/06/2019 20:18

Why are you so paranoid about it? It's just a marketing call. They don't care who the number belongs to.

Nicknacky · 20/06/2019 20:18

Phone and ask them!

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:19

Not intentionally being weird:)

OP posts:
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/06/2019 20:19

Plenty of people have more than one number! They aren’t psychic

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:19

I don't want marketers calling my 10 year old.
Maybe I'm just odd like that.
Thanks for the info.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 20/06/2019 20:20

They don’t know the holder of the phone is 10.

DogHairEverywhere · 20/06/2019 20:21

How would they know that sim was in your 10 year olds phone? You might have 2 phones? Or 1 for your partner?

Iambuffy · 20/06/2019 20:21

I made it clear when buying the sims they were for children.
(Ds1 has one too)
