DS11, was sucking a plastic cup around his mouth for ages.

He now has a lovely big lovebite all round his mouth. It’s not going, in fact it’s getting worse!

He’s refusing to go to school with it tomorrow, how can I make it go away?!!

He’s icing it now

Arnica cream??

Aquamarine1029 · 19/06/2019 19:46

Silly lad. One of life's many lessons I say. He won't be doing that again and he would definitely be going to school in the morning.

QueenofCBA · 19/06/2019 19:49

Sorry, but that is hilarious! Grin
Can you make up a cool cover story so that he can show his face in school tomorrow?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 19/06/2019 19:49

My sister did this as a teenager Grin can’t remember how long it took to fade away. Sorry OP!

chilledteacher · 19/06/2019 19:50

Arnica cream.
My Dad apparently did something similar on his stag do and stuck a plunger to his forehead pretending to be a Dalek...the bruise took about a week to go and faded the day before his and Mums wedding. She was not impressed 🤣.

HavelockVetinari · 19/06/2019 19:51

I did the same aged 11! He needs to tell people it's an allergic reaction to shellfish or something similar.

ReganSomerset · 19/06/2019 19:51

No one will know how he did it. Tell him to tell people he got hit in the face by a tennis ball and he's lucky to still have his teeth. Also tell the teacher what actually happened in confidence in case they spot the lie and are concerned about potential child protection issues.

QOD · 19/06/2019 19:52

Hahahaha I did it in school at lunch time 🙄

Hecateh · 19/06/2019 19:53

You can't.
If it has just gone red then it will fade.
If it is a proper 'love bite' then he has ruptured the the little capillaries and will take as long as any other love bite or bruise does to disappear.

1 week or maybe even 2

slipperywhensparticus · 19/06/2019 19:53

My son did this the other week gave himself one on his chin I sent him to school regardless it took a couple of days to fade

Justgivemesomepeace · 19/06/2019 19:55

Dd (16) has done this a couple of times trying to give herself a DIY lip filler look for her selfies, by sucking a bottle or something. She can be a knob. She had to go to school and be laughed at. It went after a day or so.

Al203 · 19/06/2019 20:04

Is it a heroes dress up day? Could he go as Homer Simpson?

SmellMySmellbow · 19/06/2019 20:06

Haha when you said icing it I was picturing him slathering frosting on with a spatula Grin

Notnownotneverever · 19/06/2019 20:09

Honestly I wouldn’t send my DC to school like that because kids can be cruel and that is how nasty rumours and nicknames start. You can get stuck with them for years. One day at school isn’t worth that stress for your son imo.

RogueV · 19/06/2019 20:10

Sorry but LOL 😂

ReganSomerset · 19/06/2019 20:12

A@notnownotneverever it's unlikely to be just one day though. If it's a proper love bite, it's likely to be there a week or two.

piglet81 · 19/06/2019 20:14

Oh dear! Could you put some tinted moisturiser or something on it?

SongforSal · 19/06/2019 20:21

Mine did exactly that to! Unfortunately it took about 3 or so days to fade...

MillicentMartha · 19/06/2019 20:36

My brother did the Dalek on his forehead thing with a sucker based rattle. Took a few days for the red mark to die down. ‘Luckily’ we were on holiday...

TitsInAbsentia · 19/06/2019 20:51

Draw a goatee and a tache in perm marker?

elephantoverthehill · 19/06/2019 20:55

The sucker toy injury I believe was written up in the Lancet many years ago as Daddy unicorn syndrome or some such. There is probably a medical name for your son's injury.

WooYa · 19/06/2019 21:01

Try toothpaste. I did this with a suction toy on my cheek Blush

ThrowawayfoRDS · 19/06/2019 21:50

Oh god it’s getting worse

I’m not sending him in tomorrow, honestly it will be like a lamb to the slaughter (rough school)

Omg. I certainly hope he has learned his lesson and won't do something so daft again.
