Would you/do you go to the cinemas alone?

Aware how pathetic I might sound. I have a rare day off to myself soon. Did think about a pamper day but I'm pregnant and quite sick so won't relax. Thinking of just going out for some lunch and then the cinemas. I'm fine with eating lunch by myself done it many times but never been to the cinema alone. Just wondered if others do it? Is it weird/lonely or do you enjoy it?

I used to do it regularly when my girls were small and dh offered to look after them. I'd take some snacks and drinks in with me and found it really relaxing. As it was usually a matinee the cinema was quite empty. It was possible to stand up and stretch during a film as there would be no one sitting behind me.
Go and enjoy it.

chipsandpeas · 16/06/2019 13:10

yes ive done it a few times

DramaAlpaca · 16/06/2019 13:11

I do sometimes, I enjoy it.

bee222 · 16/06/2019 13:13

Going to the cinema alone is amazing. Last time I did it I was the only person in the screening. Often if you go during the day you see lots of other people watching alone and it's always nice and quiet.

opinionatedfreak · 16/06/2019 13:15

Regularly.

You get peace to watch the film...

evespudding · 16/06/2019 13:16

Yes it's great.

Tink1990 · 16/06/2019 13:56

I was thinking of this, Id really love to go one weekday evening after work just by myself but I always chicken out!

bigredfolder · 16/06/2019 13:57

I did it last week, was lovely.

Magmatic80 · 16/06/2019 13:58

I love it! Go often

SeaViewBliss · 16/06/2019 13:58

It’s one of my favourite things to do.

AshQ · 16/06/2019 13:59

I would! I think I will next time a decent movie comes out.

NannyR · 16/06/2019 13:59

I always go on my own, it's the perfect solitary outing! Once the film starts you can't talk anyway so may as well be on your own.
I've never felt out of place or conspicuous, there's usually several other people on their own.

Ratbagcatbag · 16/06/2019 14:00

I've done it. It's nice to watch on your own. There's normally a few others on their own too.

Graphista · 16/06/2019 14:01

Done it a few times - means you get peace to watch the film!

Mayday19 · 16/06/2019 14:01

Yes it’s great. I maybe wouldn’t it it was Valentine’s Day! But otherwise, it’s perfect and not awkward at all.

Birdie6 · 16/06/2019 14:02

Yes, I Often do it. It's great - you don't have to compromise about what movie you see . If you look around, there are always people going solo - it's a great outing when you're alone. Enjoy !

AiryFairy1 · 16/06/2019 14:02

Not really, but it sounds very nice and in fact I may do this quite soon, as finding a suitable date to watch a movie with my mates is proving a big challenge!

RamblingFar · 16/06/2019 14:04

Yes regularly. I've got a Cineworld Unlimited membership.

cannotmakemymindup · 16/06/2019 14:08

I love going to the cinema on my own. Miss being able to go mid-week. It's so quiet. Means if I laugh 'to loud' nobody there to be bothered.

SnuggyBuggy · 16/06/2019 14:09

I've done it, it's fine, not awkward at all

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 16/06/2019 14:09

Yes I've often gone to the cinema alone and love it.

cheeseislife8 · 16/06/2019 14:09

Yes, definitely! More popcorn to yourself

PalindromicUser · 16/06/2019 14:10

All the time. DH and I rarely want to watch the same films. Even if we do, a babysitter plus cinema costs a fortune.

malovitt · 16/06/2019 14:11

I go to the cinema by myself at least once per week. There are lots of solitary people dotted about. Don't give it another thought.

TheRedBarrows · 16/06/2019 14:13

All the time. I don’t really understand the worry about going to the cinema on your own.
