Would you/do you go to the cinemas alone?

Aware how pathetic I might sound. I have a rare day off to myself soon. Did think about a pamper day but I'm pregnant and quite sick so won't relax. Thinking of just going out for some lunch and then the cinemas. I'm fine with eating lunch by myself done it many times but never been to the cinema alone. Just wondered if others do it? Is it weird/lonely or do you enjoy it?

Yeah, go for it, it’s lovely!
I’m off on maternity leave soon and will take a trip or two (hopefully) before baby comes and my toddler is at nursery.
Enjoy!

I go all the time by myself, I love it! It actually makes more sense going alone. Snacks, drinks, reclining chair, darkness.. perfect.

Redbarrows I agree, it doesn't make sense to me but I know a lot of people who wouldn't dream of going alone because they think they'd look sad. Society is depressing sometimes.

Yes I do.
I even used to take baby dcs to morning screenings when cinemas are fairly empty. I’d sit in the back with sleeping dcs (in car seat or on lap) and tend to them as needed.

As often as possible!

Literally just got out the cinema an hour ago, all by myself for the first time ever. It felt totally normal!

ParadiseLaundry · 16/06/2019 14:24

I'm also pregnant and went by myself yesterday to see Aladdin! I got myself a Diet Coke and loads of pic n mix, it was bliss!

I probably wouldn't have thought to do it before having DS1 but now I don't care and take what I can get Grin

I go to the cinema on my own a lot. I was thinking of doing it today. I'm divorced and my kids late teens with busy lives - I've done it regularly over the years. I go at anytime except maybe the 9pm showing on a Saturday. I also regularly go out for meals on my own and occasionally to the pub on my way home. I've travelled abroad a lot in my own so used to living independently.

I go on my own most weeks. I felt awkward for the very first time last week when I was literally on my own watching Booksmart. Absolutely nobody else in there. Every other time, it's been fine and there are often other people on their own too. It's really not that unusual.

Going to the cinema alone is much easier than lunching alone.

It's dark, everyone is facing the same way, there are fewer opportunities to imagine that people are looking at you and wondering why you are alone.

Thanks everyone going to go. It will mid week during the day so I assume it will be quiet. Looking forward to it now Smile
