What have you got your dad for Father’s Day?

Need to pop and get something today. We don’t do big gifts in our family so probably something about £20. Have any of you found something a bit different or an absolute bargain ? He’s easily pleased and usually appreciates socks etc but hoping for a better idea. Thanks

We've bought my Dad a gadget for his garden because he's gardening mad. We usually struggle to buy him anything because he usually has everything.
For DH we've bought a PlayStation game. It's a game me , DH and DD can play together so it's more a family treat 😄

Crunchymum · 14/06/2019 10:30

Dad has a £25 M&S voucher.

DP has nowt. We don't really "do" mother or fathers day. Kids will make him a card each though.

Namechange170518 · 14/06/2019 10:41

Nothing. I'll send him a text.

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 10:42

I probably struggle cos he doesn’t have any hobbies like gardening (too old for gaming). He likes cars.....

A hamper of fancy goodies from the naice deli near me - GnT flavoured fudge, Guinness caramel chocolate, posh crackers and chutney, lemon curd.

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 10:48

A hamper might work!..doubt he’d love gourmet but maybe a car magazine, fave sweets... can’t think of anything else !

Thank for this, I completely forgot! I've been helping DS make a present for his dad and forgot my own! Blush

PopWentTheWeasel · 14/06/2019 10:53

We've got my dad a gift voucher for a restaurant near his home (we live nowhere near so had to get something to put in the post). Dh is getting socks with faces on (DS had some in his Christmas stocking and his dad admired them) and some sports biographies from the Works.

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 10:55

Thanks pop. A book is a good one, he goes on holiday soon....

My Dad has a framed picture of us from my wedding. FIL is getting a make your own retro radio kit and the Dog has bought DH some craft beers.

SherlockHolmesPipe · 14/06/2019 11:08

My dad died last September. It feels strange this year. Sad

FudgeBrownie2019 · 14/06/2019 11:11

Flowers Sherlock

I've bought DH a James Bond thing from the DC because he loves JB.

My Dad I've bought a voucher for a place he loves to visit with the DC.

DS1's Dad has a bottle of gin.

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 11:12

I’m very sorry Sherlock Flowers. I hope the day is peaceful for you.

User, beer! Another good one. Veering towards a little hamper I think.

@SherlockHolmesPipe that sucks x
I hate Father's Day. My daddy died 30 years ago. He thought it was a contrived commercial con, and despised the whole concept (but was always secretly chuffed to get a card acknowledging our affection).

OverTheWeather · 14/06/2019 11:21

and the Dog has bought DH some craft beers.

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 11:23

Gokart my DH is the same though subtly asked me if our kids will all be around this Sunday Grin

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 11:25

That reminds me I could have added my own. My lot have got DH a bbq and comedy apron/hat plus some accessories.

Nothing, my Dad has been dead 9 years.

DD's 'Father' walked out on us both when she was 12 months and hasn't been in touch since, so bugger all!!

When is it? So I can stay off social media & MN! It always hurts

OhJustElfOff · 14/06/2019 11:27

If my Dad was still here I would give him a very rude card and go for a beach walk followed by a roast with all the trimmings he insisted on and far too much wine, how about organising some one on one time with him doing something he loves rather than a gift? My Dad got so much joy from me taking him to some godawful museum a few months before he passed because he had always wanted to go there and no one ever wanted to go with him. It meant more to him than the gifts.

Beebeequeue · 14/06/2019 11:33

Mummy it’s this Sunday Flowers

Ohjustelf that’s so true. My most memorable f day was when my sis and I made a picnic and took him for a long bike ride. Actually it’s the only one I can remember.....

A bee hotel! He can fit it on the side of the house and watch the bees go in and out to his flowers.

(He opened it early - and he loved it! Had taken it all apart to see the holes inside and was out installing it on the wall within 10 minutes. No bee residents yet...!).
