I want to go with the paper theme and think outside the box a little bit. Hopefully I can get some inspiration from you all!

I got him a shadow box thing with three hearts made of maps, from our wedding venue, our home and our honeymoon (he got me nothing....) We went to a local Italian for dinner, we were gonna go a bit fancy but I had morning sickness and didnt wanna spend a fortune on a meal I would probably vomit up later!

blackteaplease · 09/06/2019 19:20

Tickets to a festival held at the venue we got married at.

Being shot at in Afghanistan - most ideas have to be better than that Grin. When I got back a few months later my husband had got me a lovely leather - bound journal as I enjoy writing. I didn't get him anything as we had agreed not to!!

Totally outing but dh made me a bouquet of 2 dozen red paper roses. It took him hours and they looked gorgeous!

Manclife1 · 09/06/2019 19:40

Sent each other cards and went to a posh restaurant with the money we saved.Grin

BooseysMom · 09/06/2019 19:46

@Bobbiepin... that sounds like a really clever idea. If it's any consolation I got nothing too and I did get him a card and beer or something. Been married 3 yrs now and I never get him anything any more and in true form he never gets me anything either. Isn't married life bliss?! Hmm

Animum2 · 09/06/2019 19:59

We went to Penzance for a long weekend, visited Lands End and went to St Michael's mount, very enjoyable trip

I mentioned in a previous post that I prefer to do things than receive gifts and this year for our 2nd wedding anniversary we will be doing something similar 🙂

EvaHarknessRose · 09/06/2019 20:04

We went for breakfast at the hotel we stayed at for our wedding night (couldn’t afford dinner or a room!)

Marmite27 · 09/06/2019 20:05

Overnight stay in the hotel we got married in with dinner. Then to the hospital for a 12 week scan.

Marmite27 · 09/06/2019 20:06

Eva - ours was included in the wedding package.

LeslieYep · 09/06/2019 20:09

I bought us tickets for Harry potter world place given then paper theme. Then had dinner in our nearest nice restaurant.

Beechview · 09/06/2019 20:09

A weekend in Dublin. Ah those were the days. Young, childfree, disposable income.
We were at work on Friday in London, had dinner in Dublin on Friday evening.

Notverygrownup · 09/06/2019 20:13

Bottle of champagne, watched our wedding dvd all the way through.

Zebedee88 · 09/06/2019 20:16

My cousin gave his wife a box full of notes he'd written for her, one for every day of their first year. He's very romantic. His wife have birth to their baby boy on their first anniversary...not quite the paper theme Grin

louise5754 · 09/06/2019 20:19

Nothing. Shock

meow1989 · 09/06/2019 20:20

I can't even remember and we've only been married 4 years in July Confused

UsernameTaken76 · 09/06/2019 20:20

Cufflinks which are paper airplanes for the paper theme and tickets to a jay rayner show.

Have also got him a shirt just because and have had one of our wedding pictures engraved onto wood as he wants to do something with the pictures. Oh and I pre-ordered a PlayStation game for him and he’s gettting the order printed out for something paper to open.

I know I’ve splurged but I like to treat him and he does the same for me.

BackforGood · 09/06/2019 20:26

Another 'nothing' here Smile

MsSquiz · 09/06/2019 20:35

I got DH tickets to go see Aladdin in the West End, along with train tickets and the booking form for the hotel.

DH got me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers made from paper from posy and pot, a sliver necklace with a silver "paper" aeroplane stamped with our wedding date and tickets to cirque du soleil

We saved up to buy Cointreau, good bread and smoked salmon.
We finished work earlyish and set out the feast of the day.
20 minutes later .......... 'You Hoo, Only us' ......... yep, the in laws. Angry
We smiled, found extra glasses, and divvied up the bread and smoked salmon.
After a good chat(we only saw them 2 days previously) They left, saying, 'We prefer tinned salmon and that orange stuff has given me heartburn, Do you have any Rennies?'
Again we smiled, said 'Bye Bye', gritted our teeth and scoffed what was left.
2 weeks later I found out that I was

pregnant so it was probably a good job that they necked the Cointreau Smile
We did love them and really miss them now they're not here.Sad

nixso29 · 09/06/2019 20:36

We went to Vegas!

tunabakedpotato · 09/06/2019 20:49

Went back to the hotel where we had our wedding for a meal with our three month old baby Smile

Bobbiepin · 09/06/2019 20:50

@BooseysMom I got my first anniversary present this year after 10 years together. He was raving about what a great idea he had for months. It was not worth the hype.

He's getting fuck all for father's day, just as I did on Mother's day.

2919HereWeGo · 09/06/2019 20:58

Nothing here. In fact when DFIL called to congratulate, I didn't know why!
The only present was from my DM. To us both.
TBF I was working all hours.
Sadly it's been a theme. Dh is not one for remembering. Anything.

MrsDilligaf · 09/06/2019 21:00

We spent it in A & E with our then 6 month old DD. She had croup... so no romance whatsoever! I can't even remember if we exchanged presents (We certainly haven't since).

Its become a bit of a running joke that our anniversaries are totally devoid of any romance, even though we're always on holiday for the actual date Grin
