Swimwear / underwear for those of who don’t wax?

SinkGirl · 31/05/2019 18:03

I don’t wax my bikini line, haven’t done for years and don’t intend to start again. I also haven’t worn a swimming costume for years.

I realise that the sight of a female pube can send onlookers into a panic - can anyone help me find reasonably attractive swimwear that covers the very tops of the thighs?

Same with underwear actually - seems anything attractive is designed for women with no pubes. Surely pubic hair is not so vanishingly rare that there’s no need to produce underwear that covers this region? I mean, normally I wear underwear that doesn’t cover it, but it would look much nicer if it took pubic hair into account.

Roxy. I always wear board shorts and rash vest on holiday - keeps the sun off my bits and covers up the thighs!!

well - not really. I am very pale with very dark hair and a lot of it, and it appears to be heading down my thighs. There is no way it would be ‘there can be hairs showing’, as Chasing says - there absolutely would be hairs showing, a lot of them and extremely obviously.

That kind of thing is fine when you aren’t really experiencing the problem. Reminds me of that bit in Wonder Woman where WW is looking at corsets and asking what they’re for, and Etta says ‘they’re for holding our tummies in’. WW says ‘why would you need to hold your tummy in?’ To which Etta says, under her breath ‘only a woman with no tummy would ask that.’

Only a woman without very obvious pubic hair marching halfway down her thighs would suggest that another woman shouldn’t feel the need to cover them up.

Lands End bikini/tanking with swim mini bottom

frayedbuspass · 01/06/2019 09:38

Tankini not tanking

Flurgle · 01/06/2019 09:45

The slazenger ones are a tenner in Sports Direct. Also my choice if swimming proper.

NicoAndTheNiners · 01/06/2019 09:47

Debenhams have a boy short tankini set which seems to cover enough for me if I'm overdue a wax appt.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 01/06/2019 09:49

I have the slazenger one.
No problems in the 2 years or so I've had it.
It's lasted well.

Im hairy as hell&spent 20or so torturous years removing an increasingly lingly lengthy "bikini"line-now i cant be arsed like youOP &since my DC were small &lived in Oz (so always in/around water of some form!) I wear a shortie version of exercise shorts with a heap of lycra in them-like male 'jammers'..every store sells them here for $10.. with a lycra sports vest or rashie on top depending on whereabouts we are..more time for fun&movement&less worrying about hair/wedgies&dimply bits!!Even my DC wear shorties now theyre older(&hairy)&do beach sports..

I wear swim dresses although I do maintain my bikini line. I prefer them because I feel like I can’t see as much of my wobbly thighs!
I got loads of them on amazon.
Also, just the little swim skirts are good too, the downside is if you wear them (and the swimdresses) anywhere that isn’t hot, you end up with lots of cold soggy material plastered on you. When you get out.

Thanks everyone, some great ideas (and new terminology to search for)

However if the line in your OP about it sending onlookers into a panic was said in jest and it's just something you are looking for then fair enough, some nice ones posted here and you now know what you are looking for.

It was in jest really. I would feel more comfortable more covered up (I’d go for the neck to ankle look on the first page if I could!) - I’ve never felt very comfortable wearing very little in public (except for one holiday when I was 21 and tiny and wore bikinis and felt fantastic).

My stomach is a wreck (twins), my thighs are pretty blobby and I don’t particularly like showing my body hair to strangers (no problem DH seeing me hairy but I don’t want to draw any attention in public!).

If you have the confidence to not care, i give you a hearty high-five. I wish I did. I’m working on it 😁

I thought these looked good, and you can get a matching rash vest. I’d definitely feel more comfortable like this.
