I am going on a hen do in June - it's in Spain and I've been told we're going for a night out at a well known restaurant and I need a 'nice' outfit. The people I'm going with are effortlessly glamorous and slim.

I am not very confident anymore and I have recently being trying to break out of my 'buy big jumpers and jeggings' to wear every day. I realised that my wardrobe is almost exclusively 3 plain colours. I've been buying printed things and dresses to try and spice things up a bit but I have real body issues in that I'm probably about 4-5 stone overweight after having dd and I'm not happy. I am losing weight but I'll never lose enough before June. I've been trying to find said 'nice' outfit, I just wondered if people thought this was nice, or frumpy? It is a totally rubbish description on it and I assume it comes without the belt. I do like the belt so I'd have to buy one separately I guess.

It looks great on you, but it's not a summer dress and definitely not a summer in Spain dress. Do they do similar in a sleeveless style? Or as that looks so great, could you get the sleeves taken off?

foreverhanging · 20/05/2019 19:41

@NoBaggyPants the material is very very thin like chiffon so it feels incredibly light

The block sandals would be loads better!

NoBaggyPants · 20/05/2019 19:43

When I was larger I'd always wear sleeves because I hated my arms, but now I've realised it makes everyone notice your insecurities even more.

Go for the same style but sleeveless. I promise you'll look wonderful.

lucymegan · 20/05/2019 19:46

Love the dress it looks gorgeous on you. Those sandals would be better though.

woodcutbirds · 20/05/2019 19:50

You look gorgeous in that. It looks so nice on you I'm tempted to get one myself.

foreverhanging · 20/05/2019 19:51

I just don't know if I can do no sleeves yet :(

I'll definitely get the sandals :)

@woodcutbirds it's been a long time since I've felt happy in anything and it was so cheap too

If the shoes you already have are comfy why not keep them? Your feet will spend much of the time under the table. I don't want you to ruin your night out with blisters looks around for my mother who seems to be somehow in the room

Myshinynewname · 20/05/2019 20:07

You look really lovely OP. I prefer the sandals . You should wear what makes you feel comfortable so you can enjoy yourself - you don’t need to go sleeveless if you would feel self conscious all night.

BibbyDarling · 20/05/2019 20:15

OP you look fantastic!

Livpool · 20/05/2019 20:19

You look great!

foreverhanging · 20/05/2019 20:25

Thank you. I'll definitely try the shoes - they probably would look better but I can take both with me in case I bottle it :)

I'm no style guru but I prefer a tan coloured shoe in the summer though.

I love the dress so much I've ordered it for a wedding in a couple of weeks! I'm also 4-5 stone overweight so I hope it looks as good on me.
