Do you have a separate towel?

My husband is using my en suite this week because we have a guest. Every morning he uses ‘my’ towel which obviously means it’s wet when I want to use it which is irritating.

I just told him that I was annoyed that he just uses ‘my’ towel and he said ‘it’s a family towel. I don’t think people have separate his and hers towels’

Surely they do? I thought it was basic good hygiene practice to have a designated towel?

I know, I know, first world problem! But This has come up before and it pisses me off when he takes my towel!

Definitely separate towels! We have colour coded towels so we never use each other's.

whitehalleve · 24/04/2019 12:52

Yes we do.

Jackiebrambles · 24/04/2019 12:52

Oh yes, using someone elses towel is weird! Definitely designated towel. Same as tooth brush/flannel!

MotherOfGodFella · 24/04/2019 12:53

Urgh of course. Four people and four towels on our own hooks.

LTB.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 24/04/2019 12:55

We have separate towels.

Is it not his en suite too?

Jackiebrambles · 24/04/2019 12:55

And I would say I have a fairly normal level of hygiene, I don't change my bedding as often as some mumsnetters do :-D

EngagedAgain · 24/04/2019 12:55

I don't think I used to use separate towels, until I got fussier! Now the thought of it is a bit yuk.

CMOTDibbler · 24/04/2019 12:57

We just have towels, no allocated ones

Farmerswifey12 · 24/04/2019 12:57

I'm going against the grain here as we do not have seperate towels but I wouldn't use one after someone else has used it if you know what I mean?

ThatDeadlyJetty · 24/04/2019 12:57

Is he just covering for the fact he's not bothered to get his own towel?

GreyBasket · 24/04/2019 12:57

Absolutely separate towels!

PazRaz10 · 24/04/2019 12:58

I could never use my husbands wet towel!! Definitely separate towels for each person here. Each person has a different colour!

Kedgeree · 24/04/2019 13:01

Separate bathrooms, separate towels. If he's temporarily sharing the ensuite he needs to bring his own towel with him. How difficult can it be to just get another towel from the stack?

Flower777 · 24/04/2019 13:02

It could be his en suite too but he just usually uses the other bathroom so it has become mine by default. Which I am happy about 😁

I am glad I am right 😁

Yes, separate.
But there is only 2 of us and we have a designated spot for our towels, so it's easier to manage.

DH would take whatever towel he came to first, if we didn't have our 'spots' which he perfectly demonstrates whenever we go away!

i dream of having my own bathroom, must be blissful

Magmatic80 · 24/04/2019 13:04

Of course! Otherwise the 2nd person would have a wet towel

Megan2018 · 24/04/2019 13:05

Definitely separate towels!

Ours are the same colour (as I like the bathroom to match) but go on different bits of the towel rail so we always know which is which.

We do have a small en suite but generally use the main bathroom as it has a luxurious shower.

Bringbackthestripes · 24/04/2019 13:05

Definitely separate towels. No way on earth would I dry myself with the same towel that DH has dried his hairy arse on!

Sickoffamilydrama · 24/04/2019 13:05

Since using MN I'm realising I grow up with such chaos the fact we have towels not covered in dog hair is a bonus, I used to hate it when I was a teen you'd get covered in loads of black hair 🤮
We do share towels and I'll shower then my DH will use the same towel then it goes in the wash. I'm not worried if he did like some I've seen in changing rooms and rubbed his bum and anus dry I might reconsider Wink

Flower777 · 24/04/2019 13:06

The cupboard with the towels is right outside!

I just find it thoughtless.

I wanted to start a thread on this. We used to have 2 bathrooms so it wasn't an issue but now we only have 1 I am sick of mine being the go-to towel. Every day it is in a sopping heap on the floor. We have hundreds of towels but it's so much easier for him to use mine Angry

mimibunz · 24/04/2019 13:08

Separate towels, wash bedding every 2 weeks, close the toilet lid before flushing. And wash hands frequently.

Aquilla · 24/04/2019 13:08

My dh and i both grew up with family towels (and flannels) Sad. We have since mended our ways but every time the inlaws come and stay we have to hide our towels in our room...

HoraceCope · 24/04/2019 13:09

why is the ensuite yours?

and yes of course separate towels.

MotherOfGodFella · 24/04/2019 13:10

Family flannels Shock
