Best guest room ever!

My new place has a spare room which I am trying to make into a really nice guest room. I usually just buy Primark sheets etc. but thought I might splash out here to make it really nice.

Any recommendations for really cosy bed linens? Anything to make the bed nicer like a mattress topper? Any other ideas to make a guest bedroom really comfortable?

Most of these suggestions seem incredibly try-hard to me.

I’d much prefer great company and decent food and wine. If I go and visit friends I want to spend time with them, not laying in a feather bed staring at the framed WiFi code in the wall and worrying about the jug of fresh milk going off overnight

who said a nice guest room means no great company and decent food and wine? Nobody said they have such a beautiful guest room that they lock their visitors in there and don't feed them.

This is a weird thread.

Our spare room was so comfortable, best bed ever, that my DH has moved in permanently so we no longer have a spare room .

Nothing wrong with giving guests a rough idea what time breakfast is, I am an early riser and find it awkward lying in bed until 10ish listening to signs of life from my hosts; sometimes you can’t get up and just do your own thing as there are pets, alarms set etc . Although now I am older I don’t mind just asking ‘what time is everyone up’ ... I recently stayed with a family member and I had been out and done a long hike before they even got out of bed.

Bedeck (online store) sell wonderful, very expensive bedding. Some of the sale stuff is hugely reduced though. It's great stuff. They make the Sanderson range of bedding too.
