Who lives in a house like this?

I love imagining the lives of people who live in unusual homes. Such diversity exists in where we chose to call home and in what goes on behind closed doors. This, for example. Who thinks, after a quick swim in my Egyptian themed pool, I quite fancy a poolside game of chess!!!

Fabulous house though. I'd quite fancy a great aunt to leave it to me in her will!!

Sikh/Punjabi Indian's own it, look at the image above the fireplace, dated portrait of a man wearing a turban. Possibly old money but definitely Indian's from the decor. Beautiful sized rooms.

all very nice but they just look like houses the big ones not homes. they lack personal touches all very homes and gardens. that small cottage may be ok for a weekend cottage but i think id get claustrophobia after a bit

Oliversmumsarmy · 07/04/2019 14:29

I would love to have my own indoor swimming pool, open when I want to jump in. No one to hog the lane and no need for a swimming costume

SilverySurfer · 07/04/2019 15:19

This one is £22 million, shame it doesn't have a garden, just a roof terrace Shock www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-55392090.html

If you're tall and like high ceilings - maybe this one: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-79415231.html

LesLavandes · 07/04/2019 15:27

That is hideous and very dated. Pool is a large bath tub. Yuk

madcatladyforever · 07/04/2019 15:27

It looks like a tarts handbag. My uncle completely renovated a barn and it was the most beautiful house I'd ever seen. 10 years later it popped up on rightmove. Somebody had renovated the entire house in a 1920s Egyptian style. It was so god awful I cold have wept.

HoraceCope · 07/04/2019 15:29

i love that one

HoraceCope · 07/04/2019 15:29

oh i mean i love the one with high ceilings just linked to

GregoryPeckingDuck · 07/04/2019 15:31

It would seem that the new money having been living there so long they’ve become old money. Or maybe just old.

brexitdontfuckupmyholiday · 07/04/2019 15:35

Oh I love the artists' house! It looks so like an millionaire artist's pretend hovel.

RuggyPeg · 07/04/2019 16:00

The artist house is glorious but all over the place. Some rooms are spectacular and some are distinctly ordinary.

I liked the kitchen ; some of it was a bit old fashioned for my tastes. I would never have the money to buy it but it's good to nose what I could have if I were very rich!

labazsisgoingmad · 07/04/2019 16:28

getting worse not better in the second one the camera angle is weird

Lyver · 07/04/2019 16:39

I agree the inside is outdated besides the IMac however if I would inherit this property I would sell most furniture (the bedroom didn't look that bad) and make it more modern and to my taste.. the pool looks weird and I'd probably redo that as well (since I'll be getting loads of money from selling furniture and stuff ;)

HeavyLocks · 07/04/2019 19:01

Won't people see you in the bath? Shock

I love that 22 million one even though it hasn’t got a garden. But lots of lovely outside seating spaces though.

I don’t often like very contemporary looking decor but I could make do with that! 22 million though. Blimey. Wonder if any of the 5 bedrooms belong to staff?
