How much do you pay for sky?

PFB2 · 29/03/2019 13:11

We currently pay £45 for TV. This includes HD channels, movies & sport, sky go extra, Kids channels & entertainment channels.

I recently phoned them and negotiated our price down to this.

Only thing is, my friend has told me that she has sky tv, all the same channels plus broadband and phone line for £30 per month. I can't believe she is possibly getting all of that at that price but she assures me she is.

I'm just interested to know if I'm paying more than what most others are paying?

Thanks.

To get the really good deals you have to cancel and then hold firm
They will come back two or three times with better offers.
A friend actually did cancel and then they offered a deal they couldn't refuse

Not always, we got sky Q by 'expressing interest' then turning down their offers. Third time we got it for a one off £20 as I mentioned earlier.

Came here to say the same as @Rhubardandcustard - cancelled sky last year in favour of now tv entertainment package, we pay around £8 a month (less if there's a deal on because there's no contract) and we are getting everything we were getting from sky, so sky1, discovery, sky Atlantic etc.

HJWT · 30/03/2019 16:09

@PFB2 my DM recently got TV the whole package and fastest broadband for £90

I pay £27 for normal & kids x

HJWT · 30/03/2019 16:11

@Heulog we had Now Tv but started noticing they didn't upload the episodes straight after they had been on so if you didn't watch it live you had to wait a few weeks.

SleepingSloth · 30/03/2019 16:17

Now we pay about £50 per month....We were paying £180. Shock That was for movies, sport, multi rooms, phone and broadband. We've cut it a lot because we now watch a lot of Netflix and Amazon and not so much Sky.

MotherofTerriers · 30/03/2019 19:10

Well I’ve cancelled sky, they freed a reduced price but I turned it down. If they don’t come back with something better I’ll get now tv and Netflix. I have no idea how I will actually watch tv, I don’t think I have a working aerial and presumably the sky box will stop working. I’d better check the tv can connect to a now tv box. If I have to buy a new telly this won’t have saved money!

MotherofTerriers · 30/03/2019 19:10

Offered not freed

Marmite27 · 30/03/2019 19:13

£81 for Q (2 rooms), fibre broad band, all entertainment channels, movies, sports and Netflix. Plus phone, but we don’t really use it.

Marmite27 · 30/03/2019 19:13

And box sets!

SnapesGreasyHair · 30/03/2019 19:14

I'm currently paying £37 for entertainment package, box sets and one multiroom box.

I have also just cancelled it.... so I'm hoping they will lower the price. If not I'll cancel and get Netflix only.

My friend held her nerve and got the entertainment package for £10/mth.

MyDcAreMarvel · 30/03/2019 19:15

£11 everything except box sets, movies and sport. Includes sky go.

SnapesGreasyHair · 30/03/2019 19:17

I have a smart TV downstairs so l can watch Netflix via that. Plus I'll still gave the main deactivated sky box so am l correct that l can watch bbc, itv, c4 via that?

pink412 · 30/03/2019 19:18

We are over £130 a month, Sky Q in 2 rooms with everything.

RogueV · 30/03/2019 19:25

Max superfast broadband (shit) with line rental
HD TV with sports package
£80 a month

RedRiverShore · 30/03/2019 19:27

£55, entertainment, cinema, box sets, multiroom Sky go (we still have sky+HD not skyQ). We were offered SkyQ for £20 but my planner is full of WestWing which will disappear when we change as you lose everything recorded. I am sure I am over paying. Broadband is with BT

Oblomov19 · 30/03/2019 19:30

£56
Includes most things, including all football, premier league, champions league, the lot for Dh.

RedRiverShore · 30/03/2019 19:37

It’s extremely varied what people pay and if you go to the website the price of each individual thing is very hidden so it’s quite difficult to tell how the price breaks down to make up the price you pay.

PH03b3 · 30/03/2019 20:08

£55 all the tv shows box sets Manchester United TV and fast Internet

PFB2 · 31/03/2019 16:27

Thanks for the replies. I've called them to check when our contract ends and it's not until December 👎🏻 have set myself a reminder to call them then and say we are leaving. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

Hang on though £11 is great, but what else are you paying for your internet/phone etc?

The £47 I pay is everything including our phone data. (I buy phones outright)

It's actually the only bill I have, everything else is PAYG which suits me.

MyDcAreMarvel · 01/04/2019 01:19

I don’t have a landline pay £32 for broadband with Virgin.

MyDcAreMarvel · 01/04/2019 01:19

£15 giffgaff mobile .

GiantKitten · 01/04/2019 01:23

Our Sky is £52 for HD & all regular channels except kids plus sport.
(Also pay more ridiculous amounts elsewhere for broadband, phone line, mobiles, Netflix, BT sport, amazon prime & TV licence 🙄)

Raggerty54 · 01/04/2019 01:29

We pay £44 for sky tv HD and box sets (and catch up/on demand stuff) and sky fibre broadband. They were charging £70+ for sky basic and broadband but it was incorrect because I only signed up as there was a deal for £36 a month. The deal wasn’t implemented Hmm so we called and they added sky box sets and reduced the price. It’s still more than I was willing to pay initially though.
