How much do you pay for sky?

PFB2 · 29/03/2019 13:11

We currently pay £45 for TV. This includes HD channels, movies & sport, sky go extra, Kids channels & entertainment channels.

I recently phoned them and negotiated our price down to this.

Only thing is, my friend has told me that she has sky tv, all the same channels plus broadband and phone line for £30 per month. I can't believe she is possibly getting all of that at that price but she assures me she is.

I'm just interested to know if I'm paying more than what most others are paying?

Thanks.

£70 per month for phone, broadband,Sky Q telly with movies, box sets, plus multi room. They gave us Sky Q box for a one off payment of £20. Long term customer,I don't know if that makes a difference when negotiating.

Rhubardandcustard · 29/03/2019 15:07

I switched from sky to now tv- still get all same channels I used to watch on sky (it’s same company really) but at a fraction of the price. £5 a month for all the entertainment channels plus free view - have more than enough to watch.

BitchQueen90 · 29/03/2019 15:10

I pay £54 for Sky HD and kids channels. Unlimited super fast broadband.

I have no home phone.

BatFace1 · 29/03/2019 15:11

£97 a month - we have a Q enabled full package though

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/03/2019 15:15

I LOVE our Q box 😂

darkriver19886 · 29/03/2019 15:17

Max broadband with landline £32

InglouriousBasterd · 29/03/2019 15:18

35 for basic TV (but I’m a VIP customer apparently so do get rewards like a month free movies etc) , unlimited fibre broadband, phone. It’s gone up from when I started but I negotiate it down every time the contract expires.

CoperCabana · 29/03/2019 15:19

Be careful with the cancelling thing. I have used the tactic before. This time they just said ‘ok’ and haven’t offered a single deal. So it looks like we are getting switched off in 2 weeks!

SillyMoomin · 29/03/2019 15:22

Basic entertainment package, unlimited broadband and telephone line, £29 a month

I do ring them every year without fail though and ask to be put through to the cancellations team

TwoBlueFish · 29/03/2019 15:38

£31.55 for fibre broadband and phone (no calls), then we have NowTV which includes the main sky channels, cinema and box sets in HD. We paid a discounted price for 12 months in the Black Friday sales for £99. So it works out at about £40 a month including phone and broadband, TV part is £8.25, DH watches about one football match a month so buys a sports pass for that which varies between £6-£10 depending on deals.

TiredTodayZzzz · 29/03/2019 15:44

Mine is £46 for entertainment package, HD, Boxsets and Kids. Also "super fast" fibre broadband. It will go up to £50 in April. Used to be a lot more than this until I threatened to cancel.

My mum pays £80 for the same packages but with the older broadband and landline calls.

I will be cancelling my broadband as I have unlimited mobile data so we can all connect to that. This is going to bring me down to something like 23 for TV only.

Monkeybunkey · 29/03/2019 15:45

@BitchQueen90 pardon my ignorance, but how have you got Sky Broadband without a home phone? Do you not have to pay line rental? I may be able to save myself a few quid here.....

Cannyhandleit · 29/03/2019 15:52

Nah your friend is talking nonsense

Dillyson · 29/03/2019 16:03

Ours got to about £70 a month including broadband. Our WiFi connection was awful and Sky wanted a fortune for an upgrade.
We ditched them and now have Virgin broadband, Freeview, Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Don't miss Sky at all and it works out cheaper.

DaedricLordSlayer · 29/03/2019 16:16

ours was £58 for unlimited super fast fibre broard band, land line evenings weekend minutes, sky TV HD entertainment wise everything, boxes sets, cinema, sports ect... plus multi room.

it went up to £80 this month as it's time to renegotiate Smile

littlequestion · 29/03/2019 16:19

Do you still need a satellite dish to get Sky? We are paying BT a fortune for broadband, TV, phone and BT sport. Want to switch but find the whole process very confusing.

DaedricLordSlayer · 29/03/2019 16:29

littlequestion for sky tv you do yes.

just ring them to enquire and if you think the package is better then what you are paying BT, go for it, sky will sort the rest out.

IHaveBrilloHair · 29/03/2019 16:32

I have unlimited fibre optic broadband, basic entertainment TV, line rental and two sim cards with all the data we need for £47.
I did negotiate a lot for that, and had to go back into contract for 18 months.
That's up in 6 months so I'll see what I can get then.

Bluearsedfly36 · 29/03/2019 16:32

I just have sky and sky go with movies and it's £60. Was informed of an increase in price in April too. It's getting really expensive.

7salmonswimming · 29/03/2019 17:26

@Romax

I just went to the gym. Feel a whole lot better.

I pay £8/month (equivalent) for Netflix, and that's it. Sky seems terribly expensive!

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 29/03/2019 17:31

Reading this thread I think I need to try and negotiate ours down! We're paying £90 a month for broadband and whatever channels we have (we've got sport and the kids channels but can't remember exactly what package we're on). We haven't even got movies included in that, or sky Q.

Derekmorganwasinmybed · 30/03/2019 13:42

£40 unlimited fibre optic broadband, phone and tv

Ssmiler · 30/03/2019 13:57

Just renegotiated
£78 per month for
Unlimited fibre (fast) broadband
line rental,
Sky Talk (free calls)
HD
Sky Q multiroom tv (live pause / rewind and can record or watch 6 programmes at a time)
Basic sky entertainment package
Box sets
Netflix (4 person subscription - hadn't realised sky could provide that in their package but they did!)

That's an 18 month offer
I think it goes up to about £100 after that but I'll negotiate again Smile

MightyAtlantic · 30/03/2019 14:00

Nothing. Can't believe some of the amounts mentioned on here. A hundred quid a month just for telly! Shock

Ssmiler · 30/03/2019 14:05

Not just telly @MightyAtlantic - Telly, phone line and high speed broadband - but still I do take your point - it's a lot to pay each month when freeview exits and for broadband we could hotspot off our mobile sim contracts - still I do like my Netflix and SkyQ - and I pay £78 all in - not £100 Smile
