Can I use Sudocrem on my vulva?

I've nc for this as it's a bit embarrassing.

I've got some small cuts around my labia, I think from using sanitary towels (I think I'm going to get some reusable ones instead). I wondered if I can use Sudocrem to help the cuts to heal? Obviously its main use it as a nappy rash cream so I assume it must be ok in that general area?

Yes, before you consider reusable panty liners can I suggest you maybe try a different brand first. I use Tena and it is soft and very comfortable to use. I would be worried that if you are getting cuts from pads that using a reusable one might be a risk of infection. Personally and I know this is wrong as I am also concerned about the environment but to me I would be worried it is not clean enough.

Ah yes. Good point about getting it out of clothes. I'll wear some knickers I don't care about.

As for sanitary towels, I'm using always as that's all they had at my local shop and they're horrible and scratchy!

I think Sudocrem in the tube rather than the pot is slightly less sticky IYSWIM. Might be a bit easier to remove from clothes.

You can. Those small cuts are a sign of thrush so you might get that checked out too.

If you are worried about re-usable pads not being given clean enough do you not worry that your knickers are not clean enough.

Just as an FYI - sudocreme's main use isn't as a nappy cream. It can be used for all sorts of skin problems. Nappy rash is just one of them.

Always gives me thrush, terrible things. Been using reusables for about 2 years now and none of those issues. Or infections! I clean them after use!

Male sure you're not allergic. No one in my family can use sudicrem, it gives us bad burns if used anywhere.

First discovered when I used on my son's knee where he had a graze and the cream made a horrible burn. Spoke to my mother and she revealed thst it burns her skin too.

Bought another pot to test and applied on my arm and left a burn too.

I've had some swabs recently and no thrush present. I've had prolonged bleeding (being investigated) and have been told not to use tampons which is why I'm having to use sanitary towels.

I can't believe how uncomfortable Always are. I thought they were a leading brand? Bodyform have been better. But I'm thinking reusable might be even more comfortable. Any recommendations?

Be careful with ensuring the area is kept as clean as possible, you shouldn’t really apply heavy creams to broken skin as it can become infected.

I agree with Palominoo, do make sure you're not allergic to Sudocrem first. I'm allergic to it also and I'd never bung it down there - or anywhere!

I know you're interested in reusables - but if you don't get any really good recommendations, have you tried Always Infinity, OP? I hate towels, but when I've had to use them, they have been better and less scratchy than ordinary Always. They're not scented, either (the scented ones make me feel sick).

If you can find them (boots and amazon sell them) try Always Infinity - they are foam filled rather than fibre and nothing like any other pad, all of which take off my skin by the second day of my period. Infinity are amazing.

I would start using old fashioned Kotex maxi pads, very soft and no scratching. They are bulky but vcheap (about £1 a pack for normal in Superdrug etc) You need to check the always products as some of them are also heavily scented which exacerbates things.
